Relocating is definitely not a walk in the park. That is why we at SFL Worldwide have worked hard in creating a process that is easy to follow and is less stressful for you. First and foremost we recommend that you go through your belongings room by room to determine what to take and what not to take. Keep in mind that by taking every single item in your house or apartment will weigh in the cost of shipping as well. Which is why it is important to seriously think about what is absolutely necessary and which is not. Once you have determined or made an "inventory list" we ask you to contact us to speak to an ocean specialist. Keep your inventory list handy as this will help our representative determine the volume of your shipment, which will in turn help determine the approximate price of your total shipment. Keep in mind that there are lot of factors that will help fluctuate the cost of your total shipment.

Once you have determined your inventory list the next step is to determine volume. Our representatives are trained to help you identify if your shipment is a FCL, LCL or baggage shipment. Which best describes your type of shipment?

• FCL or Full Container Load is when you have an entire 20’ or 40’ container to ship. Prices vary accordingly.

• LCL or Less tha
Container Load is when you meet the minimum cubic feet required to be eligible for this type of shipment. This category is also known as “sharing a container”. Your shipment will share a container space with other shipments going overseas. Prices vary accordingly.

• Baggage shipment is when you have just few boxes to ship. Prices vary accordingly.

Items you decide to ship via ocean have to have a dollar value attached to it. For example, if you have 10 boxes of clothes then each box perhaps can be valued at $400 per box. Which brings us to our next step, Insurance. Insurance is very important regardless of how small or big your shipment might be. This will give you a peace of mind that your belongings are protected during transit.
In addition, SFL Worldwide will provide you a list of documentation that is required in order to process your shipment via ocean. This documentation will be used at destination to help manage and clear customs. A lot of customers get worried when the word “Customs” comes up. A lot of people think that they will owe money once the shipment reaches destination. That is not always the case. For example, if you are moving under TR (Transfer of Residency) certain items are duty free or may be eligible for concession. It depends on the type of move and goods that you are moving. Lastly, once your order is in our system we start our process by dispatching our representative to assess the volume of your shipment then to book a date to come out and start packing your items. Your items will then be transported to our warehouse for consolidation until a container is booked for shipment. Tracking is available to our customers to view your shipment online once our container is on its way to destination.
