If you have been building a database list of newsletter subscribers and sending out your newsletters and ezines on a regular basis, you are doing the right thing. It's great to keep engaged with your fans and subscribers. It will keep your products, business ans training at the top of their minds. But there is something that many newsletter authors forget to do when writing their letters, upsell their services.
If you already have a captive audience of readers that love your stuff, why not suggest to them further products, training or mentorship? If you teach painting tutorials on your website or blog, maybe a percentage of your subscribers would like a more personal training experience? You could make more specific training videos on certain techniques that haven't been covered online and sell them to your readers. Or offer some kind of personal coaching either on the phone or a virtual classroom with a webinar or video conferencing.You may offer your readers special deals that are not available online to the general visitor to reward them for signing up. You could promote deals on your artwork, supplies, books and coaching. The easy thing about newsletter promotion is that you can put a clickable link in your newsletter that goes directly to your ecommerce system or shopping cart. I get newsletters all of the time that may have a link to a resource such as an art show, but I rarely see links to make more money. Upselling is not just a way to make money, it helps and rewards your readers with invaluable training that they can't get anywhere else, or may not want from anyone else but you! Sometimes the secrets and techniques to making more money lies in the smallest of details.
