INTERVIEW WITH A REIKI MASTER/TEACHERnnMy growing interest in Reiki has led me to take the chance to sit down with a Reiki master and teacher who we will call Bianca. I wanted to know more about the art of Reiki and what it takes to become not only a master but also a teacher of such a beautiful and extremely beneficial healing technique. Bianca was more than happy to share her views and knowledge of her gift. I wanted to start at the beginning of her journey to get a real feel for how this all came together for her. The first time Bianca heard of Reiki was through a seemingly random conversation that produced a story of someone else’s experience with the delicately powerful art. The young lady told a story of standing in a long line that was outside on a terribly hot and miserable day. The woman behind her in line her noticed the great discomfort and said that there was a way to ease her discomfort with out having to touch her. Being so miserable the young lady agreed that anything would be helpful and worth a shot. With in a few minutes the hot young lady felt cooler and very comfortable. She had no more problems the rest of her time in line. The energy technique used by the mysterious woman in line was Reiki. To this day Bianca dose not remember who told her this story, but the seed was planted and she began to do her own research. In her research Bianca found a website that not only gave her information on Reiki, but also proved to be a great resource for many of her other spiritual interests. The website was so incredibly helpful and impressive; she wrote an email of thanks to the owner of the site. The paths of teacher and master crossed at that point. Bianca knew that the time was not right for her to make this commitment, but never lost sight of this as a goal for her future. When the time was right, she reinvestigated the information she had found earlier and put her plan in action. At this point in the story I became very curious of the actual process one goes through to receive such a grand gift of energy. As it turns out this is not so quick and easy of a task. Knowing all great things are worth waiting and working for, Bianca settled into doing everything that she could to be clear and pure mind body and spirit. Typically Bianca’s teacher would guide new students through the four levels required to achieve master and teacher with a twenty-one day cleanse between levels. However the distance between Bianca and her teacher was great and travel back and forth was not reasonable. They made an arrangement that would get Bianca through all of the levels in one week. This meant that Bianca had to take on the project of cleansing on her own and seeking at least one Reiki session to familiarize herself with the energy. Being a person who regularly fasts, meditates and generally takes good care of her self the cleansing part was no problem. However where to find a conveniently located Reiki master whom she was comfortable with could have proven to be a bit of a problem. However, just like all things that are meant to be a Reiki master seemed to fall in her lap and every thing was set to go. Additional cleansing was achieved through multiple sessions and the trip for full training was all that was left. After a full week of training and attaining her Reiki master/teacher certification, Bianca came back a newly refreshed highly attuned and happy woman. Having the chance to talk to and learn from a Reiki master/teacher has really enlightened me and given me the desire to share this knowledge with anyone who will pay attention. It is a wonderful and gentle form of healing that has maintained its strength and power through centuries of unbalanced times. When asked how she typically describes Reiki, Bianca said that it is an energy work that is very similar to acupuncture in the way that they both work with and through your chakras and internal energy flow. After that simplistic explanation the people that Reiki speaks to will ask more questions or come back later with questions after doing independent research. For others who are not interested more explanation would be like “forcing my Reiki upon them” which goes against all of the respect that Reiki requires. Respect for personal space and privacy and also for the energy healing technique it’s self. Even if your energy is only slightly peeked do a little more investigating. You just may find something that will change your life. n
