Another difference is that bonds typically have defined maturity or term, after which it is redeemed, while stocks might be exceptional for an indefinite period. The exception is consol bond that is perpetuity, a bond without any maturity. There are plenty of different kinds of bonds, which include Fixed rate bonds; Floating rate notes; Zero-coupon bonds; Inflation linked bonds; Asset-backed securities; Subordinated bonds; Perpetual bonds; Bearer bond; Treasury bond; Municipal bond; Lottery bond; War bond; Serial bond; Revenue bond and Climate bond. Shareholders generally purchase gold as harbor or hedge against political, social or economic fiat currency crises, including burgeoning national debt, investment market declines, inflation, currency failure, social unrest and war. The gold market is subject to speculation like other markets, particularly via use of derivatives and futures contracts. Gold is in fact more than just the investment as it is highly valued possession, which is often more than cost of money. Prices have a tendency to rise during times of demand increases and economic troubles in nations, which experience downfall in their economies. As demand rises, the prices rise as well. During price rises, many shareholders pull money from their bond and stock portfolios and invest in gold as it is often thought of as main hedge against inflation.
