How much time do you sit around using Facebook? If you are like the nearly 400 million other users, probably quite a bit. Some people think that using Facebook and other social networking websites is nothing but a huge waste of precious time. Facebook can be a great marketing tool, especially for entrepreneurs who have small marketing budgets, but a lot of people end up spending far too much time on this website and not getting other more important things done. So, is Facebook such a great way to market a business after all? Here are some reasons why it may not be: Facebook may not be right for your business: Marketing is not necessarily about driving traffic to your website. You are also looking for a certain type of traffic, also known as targeted traffic. Not all businesses do well marketing on Facebook, and before you go wasting time and money marketing here, you really need to do your market research. Find out who is using Facebook, and if the customers you are targeting are the ones who are using it. If you think that the people using this website are right for your business, by all means, start marketing on Facebook, and make your marketing campaign a big one, because you want to attract as many Facebooker's as possible to your business. Facebook is for fun, and some people don't want to do business there: A lot of people who use Facebook are not there to shop for things. They are there to relax, chat with friends, play games, etc. They may not be interested in shopping. Even if your market research shows that the people using Facebook could be potential customers, this is not a done deal, and you never can be sure. If you are not sure, put your Facebook marketing on hold until you can do more research. There is more to the Internet than just Facebook: If you are just using Facebook to market your business, you are really missing the boat. There are so many marketing opportunities on the Internet, and many of them are at ridiculously low prices, and sometimes even free. You can set up a blog and provide regular information with links to your website for more information. You can send out newsletters and have an email marketing plan. You can use content marketing to appear higher on search engines. Take a look at the many ways that you can use the Internet to market your business and get more profits. You need to use a variety of marketing strategies to make sure that you are getting the most out of your business. Don't just rely on Facebook, but use everything else the Internet has to offer. And don't forget about traditional marketing methods, because they still get results. Basically, just do whatever you have to in order to get the customers you want (as long as it is in alignment with who you are), and the profits you want.
