With all the thousands of diets, exercise programs and weight loss pills on the market its hard to imagine that we still have problems with weight loss these days. However, as a nation we are fatter than any time in history. In fact, its getting so bad that obesity is becoming an epidemic that's now even starting to effect the economy. Whether you want to lose 10 or 100 pounds, the fact remains that you will need to stop doing what you are doing and start doing something different. Fasting for weight loss is by no means a new way to lose the extra pounds, but it can be very effective because it helps us break bad habits in a very simple way. One of the main reasons why diets fail is because we don't want to give up on the foods that we've grown to love. Often we have to break a lifetime habit that can be extremely hard to do. When you diet, the first week usually goes well because you are still in a "temporary mode". The longer you go without your old foods, the harder it gets and usually after 2 weeks we all give in because the separation was just too much. This is why diets fail as a long term solution. If you've experienced this diet rollercoaster then fasting might be the answer. It works simply because you don't have to "give up" on your bad habits. With intermittent fasting you basically fast for short periods of time. During your fast you are on a very strict diet for 2 to 5 days and then in your off period you are free to eat what you want. The fasting periods creates a calorie deficit which is why it enables you to lose weight. It is crucial that you follow a very well designed fasting plan though since you have to fast for the right periods and have the right diet during y fast for this to work. This really isn't hard to stick to and it provides you with the flexibility you need to be successful with losing weight. If done correctly it is a very healthy way to get rid of the extra pounds and for the majority of regular fasters it eventually leads to massive life changes - without using willpower to force the changes upon yourself. Willpower will only take you "that" far. Diets force difficult change upon you. Fasting makes it easy and it really works.
