It always feels good while driving a new vehicle. The sharp and smooth performance just doubles the driving experience, especially when you are on a long drive and crossing a highway. But, this smooth performance is not forever, because the clutch can start behaving rude with the growing age. And here begins the disadvantages with slipping gears, weird noises during the gear shift, and quirky vibration. All these signs inform you that your clutch needs the replacement and that needs a hefty amount of money for the labor cost and good amount of time to finish the replacement. However, you can do it yourself, but it is always good to take your car to the auto workshop in Cannock for the installation of a new clutch. This will lead your vehicle back to the sharp performance with smooth gear shift. But, the question is- whether to replace the clutch or we should replace the whole clutch set, which consists of three components- the clutch disc, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. Replacing every component is a good decision, because every component is connected with each other. Worn clutch can also make a bad impact on the throwout bearing and vice versa. Parts of a Clutch: If you have a manual transmission vehicle, then the clutch in your vehicle consists of three components. All these parts are mated between transmission input shaft and flywheel. Let’s take a look at these components and how they work: The most integral part is the clutch disc, which is a circular metal plate, both sides covered in friction material. This metal plate is integrated between the engine flywheel and pressure plate. There is a hub in the center of the clutch which fits over the input shaft. When the clutch engages, the disc is clamped between the pressure plate and flywheel and then, power is transmitted from engine to input shaft transmission. Pressure plate is another part which is attached to the flywheel through bolts. This has springs which help in creating friction for the clutch disc and thrust ring for the bearing. Throwout or release bearing is positioned in the center. When the clutch is pulled down, the contact of pressure plate and clutch disc gets interrupted from flywheel. And, the power is also interrupted and doesn’t flow from engine to the transmission until the clutch is not released. After releasing the clutch, the disc and pressure plate start working together and the clutch is engaged again to flow the power from engine to flywheel. Wear to be Repaired: There are a lot of chances of worn clutch and throwout bearing. When the clutch is depressed and released, the chances are higher that the disc or bearing is worn. When any of the parts is get damaged, then take your vehicle to the nearest garage center in the Cannock for clutch repair. And, if you find that there is the need for the replacement of a component, then we would advise you to replace the whole set with a new clutch kit. Clutch Kit or a Separate Component? Purchasing the whole kit will also cost you reasonable than buying a one component and will also cost you feasible, reducing the chance of wearing and tearing of other components. As we mentioned above, every part of a clutch is connected with each other, hence the damage to one part can damage the other parts, and can also affect the working capability of the whole clutch system. Do a Check for Flywheel: Flywheel is absolutely not a part of clutch, but it needs a check, due to its direct contact with the clutch disc. So, check the cracks and hot spots on the flywheel, if have any and then, make the necessary repairs or replacement.
