A simple way to breathe new life into your home and have it feeling clean and fresh, is to give those radiators a much needed coat of paint. Depending on the type of radiator that you have installed and the type of finish you want to achieve, choosing the correct painting methods should always done carefully. Due to the fact that radiators come in all different shapes and sizes and can be made from a variety of different material, the methods used to paint them will vary, this can be seen throughout the range from cast iron radiators to flat panel radiators. rnTo ensure that you have an even finish always ensure that there is no dirt or debris when applying the paint to your designer radiators. Its a good idea to run a damp cloth along the surface to remove any dirt, remembering to dry the radiator before applying the paint. When painting your radiator, it is a good idea to use paint specifically designed for metallic surfaces, since regular paint for walls or wood might not give a particularly good finish and can even decolourise. Always ensure that the paint you using is heat resistant. Always take sensible precautions when painting your radiators such as making sure the floor and any nearby furniture is adequately protected from any splashes of paint. Any previous coats of paint should be rubbed down with some sandpaper to ensure that the paint effectively sticks to the surface, and produces an even finish. rnA good time to begin applying your coat of paint is when the designer radiator is still warm Make sure your designer radiators arent too hot though otherwise you could burn yourself. If you follow these tips carefully, you should find that the process runs smoothly and the results will be excellent. You will get the best effect from using special tools and brushes when painting your radiators. You should apply the paint in a vertical fashion to follow the grooves on the radiator. This obviously does not apply for other radiators such as cast iron radiators of flat panel radiators. Try and paint the radiator in sections to make the process easier. You need to make sure that there is not too much paint on your brush too as it can cause drips which will not look very nice. If you use a long handled brush or a roller then you should be able to reach the harder areas such as the backs of the radiators with a lot more ease. rnIt is important that you make sure that you let your radiators dry properly too. Inspect the radiator after the paint has tried and decide if you think it needs another coat of paint. Once you are happy with the results, and you are sure the paint is dry then you can turn the radiators back on. Once you are satisfied with the results and the paint has dried you can start using your fabulous looking desiner radiators. The radiators will probably emit the smell of paint the first few time you turn them on however, this is natural and will soon disappear. With these essential tips you can paint your radiators to a brilliant finish and have them looking fresh and brand new again.
