Many people secretly hope that there is a formula hidden somewhere that will lead them to affordable long term care. What they need to know is the fact that to be able to save on long term care they simply have to come up with a good plan early in their lives. rnThe financial catastrophe that comes with long term care (LTC) costs is only a circumstance resulting from lack of planning, not to mention complacency. A lot of people in lucrative professions make the mistake of thinking that when the time comes for them to acquire LTC they would have had enough put away already. rnUnfortunately, financial advisers and LTC specialists have said time and time again that no amount of savings will suffice to cover the cost of care which increases yearly. Blame it on inflation but then again, muttering over inflation will not resolve anything. rnBy 2030, the cost of care is expected to rise fourfold so it would be very difficult for average income earners to sustain their LTC needs or that of their loved ones using their personal resources. rnEveryone can avoid wiping out his hard earned money to the cost of care if only he will start assessing his health today. One’s future health care requirements, after all, would depend on his present health condition and lifestyle. rnAccording to experts, LTC may be inevitable but one should not discount the fact that a small percentage of the country’s total population might never need it. rnSave on Long Term Care rnTo avoid being subjected to the continuously increasing costs of in-home care, assisted living, and nursing home care, a healthy individual is advised to maintain his diet, workout program, and dislike of all kinds of vices. rnBeing healthy today lowers one’s risk of requiring extensive LTC someday. Even if he ends up needing care someday in spite of his healthy lifestyle, his needs will not be s high as those who are currently wasting their youth on vices, eating cholesterol-filled food, and depriving themselves of physical exercises. rnHealthy people whose families do not have a history in chronic health disorders can simply base their LTC plan on the length of time that people would normally obtain care. Studies reveal that most people acquire three years of care, on average, but those with Alzheimer’s, arthritis, and diabetes, to name a few of the most common diseases among the elderly, can require 10 years of care or more. rnPeople who are planning their LTC with long term care insurance (LTCI) are on the right track. Apart from estimating their LTC coverage period, though, they have to be familiar with the cost of LTC facilities for this will have an impact on the price of their policy. rnDesperation always leads people to aspire for things that are nonexistent, but when it comes to one’s health needs the only way they can save on long term care is through an intelligible plan.
