You never really hear the term aggressively confronted at work. Although you should, most companies never seemed to look at it as an issue that is, until they began looking into why people called out of work. The amount that companies pay out for l4 and l5 back pain

was incredible. When a company pays out enough to damage their bottom line, they begin to look at other options. Computing is a wide spread way to work and live. Everyone uses a computer at one time or another. They will use it for work, to play games, to do their banking or shopping. It is the cause of decompression therapy and compression injury on the I4 and I5 vertebrae. The cost of physical therapy is astronomical on a company and on the private citizen. So to answer the question; is computing dangerous? Well, is a gun dangerous on its own? No, it has to have someone there to pull the trigger. Will a computer cripple you? Well, not unless it can get up and club you to death. You catch my drift? You can only blame the tool so much. A sedentary life style, long hours doing everything in front of a computer and bad posture and weight gain are what is to blame. What is the connection between computing and various diseases? • Weight gain: A sedentary lifestyle is the single most dangerous thing that long hours in front of a computer will promote. Because the person is most probably sitting and eating at the computer and maybe even has the TV on as well. • Diabetes: People who are sedentary often become obese and will develop sugar diabetes. This is usually type two from a sedentary lifestyle and poor diet, and is usually insulin dependent. • High Blood Pressure: This will occur naturally because of the two conditions above and is life-threatening. • Deep Vein Thrombosis or DVT: This is from a sedentary lifestyle. If you sit in front of a computer without taking a 15 minute break in the space of an hour to walk around or exercise, you can develop pooling of blood in areas of the body. Then clots form, when they form, they can stick to the walls of the veins and grow bigger. Sometimes you get symptoms and sometimes you won’t. If you don’t then you could die, it’s that simple because if you have the clot escape into the blood stream it can hit the heart, the lungs and the brain. In fact, in most cases, those who develop a DVT will have a few of them, not just one. At that point, you are on medication that is both costly and dangerous. All in all, it is best to attack the situation and take precautions before you have a serious issue.
