Did you ever consider that what appears to be healthy food options may be making you sick? Sensitivities to food and food chemicals can cause a wide range of symptoms and chronic health problems just some of which are listed above. You may have considered that red#40 and MSG could cause symptoms in any individual. But did you think that maybe apples, tomatoes or corn could be causing your symptoms?

Where to begi

If you think you suffer from food sensitivities, the first thing you need to do is to identify the foods that are making you sick. Easier said than done? Trying an elimination diet where you simply eliminate the foods that you believe may be causing symptoms can be a place to start. This may help you target some major offenders in your diet. But with the multitude of different foods and food chemicals we eat, it can be a significant challenge try to pinpoint the problem foods. And to magnify the challenge, the symptoms you experience today may be related to a food you ate yesterday. In addition, a small dose of a trigger food one day may not create symptoms, but a large dose on another may cause the headache.

Food sensitivity testing

Fortunately, the LEAP program and the mediator release test (MRT®) gives us a tool to test for the specific foods and food chemicals that are causing your symptoms. This patented blood test quantifies your inflammatory response to 150 different foods and food chemicals. With this information we can create the most effective therapy - an anti-inflammatory eating plan tailored specifically for your body that will quickly get you feeling better.

How does it work?

The Mediator Release Test (MRT®) is not a food allergy test (IgE-mediated reactions), but rather it measures a variety of immune mechanisms (IgG, IgM, IgA, C3, C4, T-cell activation, phagocytosis, etc.) that may be triggering inflammation and the physiologic effects that lead to symptoms. A blood sample is taken and when combined with each food or food chemical the volume of inflammatory mediators released from the cell are measured. Based on these results we can create a diet that will reduce inflammation and reduce symptoms.

What do I do with the test results?

Less than 2 weeks after having your blood drawn you will receive a detailed description of your body's inflammatory response to each of the food and food chemicals tested. Working with a Certified Leap Therapist (CLT) and following a diet plan based on your personal results you can expect to see a significant improvement in your symptoms in as little as 7-14 days.
