Like most of us, I have dreams and I know we all are eager to fulfill our dreams because it will make us happy at some point in our lives. I have three dreams:
• Writing books on a full-time basis, books of romance, and short stories with a confession and contemporary voice.
• A freelance-paralegal
• A freelance Medical Transcriptionist

These are my three goals, and I am doing everything in my power to make it happen. I am a published writer, but I haven’t achieved that famous author title, or when people hear my name, they instantly can name one of my books. I am not touring major cities, or having book tours, so again, I have not achieved my writing goal. Right now I am still writing books, and educating myself with a writing course, on the tools and mechanics of romance writing. This is the genre I wish to write in because it’s the genre for me.

I have always dreamed, when I was younger, about the law. I thought becoming an atto
ey would fill that void in my life, but I found out that I like working behind the scenes instead of being in a courtroom. I want to make sure the atto
ey has all the evidence he needs to win his/her case. This is my purpose in life and it makes me feel triumph over accomplishing and achieving this goal. Currently, I am getting my B.A. in Paralegal Science, and searching for an internship. Of course, I have not been successful so here’s another achievement that has not reached its potential at the moment. I am truly working on it, though.

Lastly, but not least, I want to work at home on a part-time basis, typing. To execute my speed in typing, which is very high, I wanted to be able to utilize this skill in an Independent Contractor (IC) sort of way. I was searching the internet, and found Medical Transcription (MT). I find this career a very lucrative and fascinating field, and I am currently attending Career Step to make this happen. Career Step is one of the highly acclaimed AHDI approved schools. I plan to locate a job right after I graduate and receive my certificate, and continue on the path of employment as a MT.

Achievement “is a result gained by effort” according to Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary; “the quality and quantity of a student’s work.” I will have to say that I am on the road of achieving my goals, but on the course of life, there are a lot of stumbling blocks that get in the way of making your imaginings a reality:
• A full-time job that you don’t like or want, but need to pay the bills.
• Stress about money because your full-time job is not paying the bills, but you are working you butt off anyway.
• Exhaustion
• Children
• Relationships

  • Family
  • School
  • Not enough time in the day
  • Sleep – not enough of it.

The list is endless, and “it’s not over until it’s over” is my adage and this is what I keep saying when the pressures of life are closing in on me. I just want to sleep and sleep and forget about this day, and never think about it again. If I sleep I can elevate my problems.

What is the basis of achievement? Do I have to do anything of this multitude? Why do I have to achieve anything? There are people that go to work, and come home, and receive their low paying, paychecks, pay the bills they can, and suffer with creditors calling them every day of the week, including on Sundays. There are people who don’t work at all, and decided that they will never let a nine to five job stress them out; there are people who uses other working people, and there are people who let the government take care of them for the duration of their lives. In other words, there are people who just don’t give a damn. I find myself dwelling in the latter. Sometimes, I just don’t give a damn.

This is how I feel, and its okay for a while, but then a nagging voice screams out at me, “it’s not okay, and you need to do something with your pathetic life,” the voice constantly nags. “If you have these three goals, I want you to do everything in your power to make it happen, and don’t stop until it’s a reality,” the nagging voice preaches. “You will achieve all your goals, and I refute the negative,’ the voice shouts.

When I hear this voice, I know I want to go on. I won’t rest until I am a paralegal, working at home, on a freelance basis; a writer, signing my books for my eager readers, doing book tours; working on a part-time basis transcribing medical dictation for the one or two doctors I work for. How can I think of giving up? A loser gives up; a negative creature gives up, a depressed person gives up, but a winner never gives up.

There’s a long road, and it has plenty of bumps, but at the end of the Promised Land, the tunnel with that bright light, we can’t throw in the towel. We have to keep on going. If President Obama felt this way, would he be the President of the United States? He’s a prime example of courage, and discipline and never giving up on your achievement. If he can do it, I know I can do it because what I want has nothing to do with the stress that President Obama has in the White House.

It’s not over until it’s over is my motto forever, and as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said, “We will reached the promised land.” And we have with President Obama, the first African-American in the White House.

Achievement is “superior ability, special effort, courage, a great heroic deed, and attainment” according to Dictionary.com and I believe these words also. President Obama is the “great heroic” inspiration to us all, and when I think about him, and I look at myself, I feel this great emotion of accomplishment from the bottom of my toes to the hair on my head. I will accomplish my three goals in this life, and I will make them happen.

With God, almighty on my side, mixed with my persistence, dedication to my craft, education, positive attitude, heroic men/women, and determination, I will achieve my ultimate plan. I don’t want to make my dreams come true for the money, fame, and fortune, of course not! I want to feel the element of success because I conquered it, and that’s the only accolade I need, and want. I did it! I overcame the negative obstacles, and now I have a three-career option now, and the world is my oyster. I can have it all!

So when the world gets to you, and you want to just sleep for the duration of your life, and call it quits, Remember, “It’s not over, until it’s over.” I guarantee this!
