Changing how we feel about the past can only occur if we begin taking responsibility for what we were holding in mind. The good news is we can change how we feel about any situation. Instead of struggling to change the past, a better way to move forward is to begin directing our attention on having positive and successful outcomes. Having abundance; and positively achieving our goals. In choosing to hold in mind what we would really like to achieve, always allows for better outcomes. By holding in mind positive intentions, also helps to realign our focus towards goodness and abundance. Moving forward means we choose to let go of holding onto changing the past. When we begin to accept ourselves, others, and the circumstances that occurred, and in spite of whatever happened in the past, we can choose to focus on being in gratitude, having positive resolutions, being peaceful.
Learning to make better decisions is the best recommendation for letting go of the past. Each time we positively challenge ourselves to let go of the past, allows us to move forward, and experience being free. Challenging ourselves positively also indicates that we are willing to explore and experience healthier, happier and more harmonious victories. It is also an indication that we no longer wish to settle or struggle. It is also deciding we are ready to move on. Perhaps also stating that we no longer wish to punish or abandon ourselves or others. By making a decision to examine what we are holding in mind allows us to acknowledge that we are ready to experience something better.
Letting go of the past and beginning to focus on positive-only experiences is a skill. Positive-only realities are possible when we accept that by changing our thinking, we can change the quality of our lives. The expression, "We can't want and have at the same time," points out that these views are in opposite directions. Same is true in regards to our wanting to change the past. There is a difference regarding changing our thinking and wanting to change the past. The word "wanting" indicates our not having (materiality or experience). It further suggests that something is lacking in presence, ability, and deficient or absent. The word "having" suggests something that is within our possession or ability NOW. Notice the difference in outcomes that we are creating for ourselves based on where we are focusing our attention.
By choosing to be kind and considerate of ourselves and our circumstances is a much more gentle approach in letting go of the past. Kindness allows for forgiveness; Acceptance begins to transform negative realities into something that is more appealing. We all have choices and only we can make the necessary decisions about where we decide to focus our attention. Our thoughts create our realities and not the other way around. We can choose to continue wanting to change the past, which results in little or no change. Or we can decide to invest in ourselves and begin cleaning out the cobwebs in our mind. Life is a decision. Only you can decide on the quality of your life. So why not decide to be happy, peaceful and abundant?!
