I've Read That Christmas Story a Million Times

A Christmas Story is not a play. It was a movie but one of my favorite movies of all time. The cast was perfect. They were very flexible to meet whatever was required of them. I don't know how much time it took to see it or how many minutes it ran but A Christmas Story was very funny. I think it originally was a play. In a sense it was simple with one major story about a kid who dreamed of getting a special BB gun for Christmas. It was a simple interior setting. Almost every scene was filmed in the house. Especially the kitchen. There was a simple exterior set too which was basically shots inside a classroom. The set time for the movie or play was back in the forties when life seemed simple, but I guess simple is relative to the time you live and how flexible you are to adjusting to the cast of characters that play in your real life. There was a another great Christmas Story that I read. It was actually about a elementary school Christmas play. The interior set was simple: a stable. The exterior set was non existent if you mean exterior being outside of a building. the set and time for the play was actually the birth of Jesus in the stable. One young boy, who's name I can't remember, was kind of slow so he was cast as a manager at an inn. His lines took less than minutes to say although he took some time to learn them. Basically his job was to turn Joseph and Mary away because he was not supposed to be flexible and because there was no room at the inn. This was a Christmas play to remember of all Christmas plays ever written because the poor boy couldn't turn Joseph and Mary away. He did in the beginning but he was so into the Christmas story, he was no longer a cast member, he was a real innkeeper. In what was less than minutes as Joseph and Mary were walking away, the young cast member went off script and there on that simple interior set, he called Joseph and Mary back. He said, "You can have my room!" I believe this was a real Christmas Story that became a Christmas play. It was set in a real town where the cast was real people. This was one of the best Christmas plays I've ever read. I could only imagine that there wasn't a dry eye in the place. Settings didn't matter anymore, interior, exterior, simple or not. The set that was most important was the set one sets in there own mind and heart. I've read that Christmas Story a million times for lessons or even simple family settings and not once have I been able to get through it. I pause for minutes at a time, which actually seems like hours in order to regain composure. I cry and cry. There are many many Christmas stories and Christmas plays out there in the world floating around. I try to take the time every Christmas season to collect one or two for my Christmas collection, but these two are my favorite. At another time I will share another great one with you about how Rudolph the Reindeer really came to be.
