As we grower older more and more emphasis is given to a healthy lifestyle. As stress and pollution start to take a toll on our bodies we start noticing the side effects of all those late nights and junk food. Although a healthy diet and regular diet will ensure we are healthy at any age we must also pay close attention to our bones. Our bones play many important roles; it gives us structure, protects our organs, stores calcium and anchors our muscles. So it only makes sense to ensure we always have healthy and strong bones throughout our lives. Milk might be sufficient for a young child but as an adult we need to include many more things into our daily diet and routine in order to take care of our bones.rnThe bones in our body are continuously changing. Every time an old bone breaks down a new one grows in its place. When we are young our body is capable of growing new bones at a much faster rate when compared to bone breakdown. As a result our bone mass increase. This peaks at the age of 30 for most normal human beings. After the age of 30 we start slowly losing more than we gain, i.e. , the growth rate of new bones slows down and slowly becomes slower than the rate of bone breakdown. The probability of a person developing bone related aliments like osteoporosis, a condition that causes bones to become brittle and weak, is dependant on how much bone mass we are able to attain by the time we reach the age of 30 and from then how fast we lose it. The higher the bone mass we peak at 30, lesser is our chances of developing osteoporosis as we grow older.rnA number of factors contribute to maintaining healthy bones. The amount of calcium we include in our diet is very important. A diet which is low in calcium can cause diminished bone density, early bone loss and an increased risk of fractures. Inadequate levels of physical activity leads to a higher risk of weaker bones and joint pains. Research has suggested that the use of tobacco is a cause of weak bones. Similarly, having more than two alcoholic drinks a day on a regular basis causes an increased risk of problems like osteoporosis as alcohol interferes and hinders the body’s ability to absorb calcium. Women tend to have weaker bones then men and are at a higher risk of developing bone related aliments, especially after menopause. Therefore it is even more important for them to ensure they get the adequate nutrition and exercise to maintain healthy bones. Age is also another contributing factor to receding bone density and health. A person’s race, family history and frame are deciding factors of his bone’s strength and durability. Asians pose a higher risk towards bone related problems while people with smaller frames are more likely to suffer from brittle bones and fractures. Too much thyroid in the body can cause bone loss as well.rnThese are some of the main reasons people end up with brittle bones and joint pain. Care must be taken to avoid any food item or lifestyle choice which may land us with unhealthy bones. Without dense and strong bones we can be assured of a painful and worrisome old age. Although some factors can be controlled it is not always easy to get all the nutrition we need to keep diseases like osteoporosis and arthritis at bay. Supplements like Hexagon’s Osteo Proare the perfect option for health conscious people looking to secure a comfortable and healthy old age with strong and healthy bones and joints.
