As I age I find that my joints are much less supple then those of my younger self. Even with staying in relatively decent physical conditions the effects of ageing can be felt and even heard! Recently I decided to address this issue head on through a natural approach. I researched the causes of joint pain and found that vitamin deficiency is often the culprit.rnThe vitamins that are responsible for joint health are vitamin D which enables the body to rebuild damaged cartilage in the body. Vitamins C and E fall into the category of antioxidants and as a result they battle against those nasty free radicals that hasten the aging process by destroying cells and tissue in our bodies. The other factor is the availability of fatty acids including vitamin B3, B5 and B6 which improve suppleness and reduce soreness in the joint, now to juice myself Squeak free.rnThere are a variety of natural sources of all the vitamins and minerals needed to improve joint condition. Let's begin with the vitamin D, although dairy products and fish including salmon, tuna and cod are high in vitamin D it can also be found in mushrooms, spinach, potatoes, blackberries, cantaloupe, blueberries, kiwi, grapes, plums, tomatoes, carrots, kale, greens and cabbage to name a few. Vitamin C can be found in a variety of natural sources including broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, spinach, and citrus fruits. Vitamin E is found in a number of foods including spinach, broccoli, avocados, nuts, seeds and plant oils. The added bonus is that whilst treating your joints with Vitamin E goodness you will also be helping to protect your beloved heart and improving skin condition. B3 is available in eggs, avocados, peanuts, sunflower seeds and green peas to name a few. Some good sources of B5 include mushrooms, sweet potatoes, avocados, sunflower seeds and oily fish. Excellent source of B6 include potatoes, bananas, bell peppers, tuna and garlic. rnSo now to apply my knowledge and lubricate those old bones!rnMy Joint Juice Recipe:rnStep 1-Juice the following: - 4 or 5 handfuls of spinach or kalern- ½ cup grapesrn- 4 carrotsrn- 2 oranges peeledrn- 1 kiwi - 1/4 red bell pepper Step 2 - Put the juice in a blender and addrn- 1 bananarn- 1/2 avocadorn- Glug of flax seed, olive oil or plant oil of your choicernBlend it all up and enjoy!
