Just Some Cable TV Issues

Cable TV has been with us for almost 20 years and despite of its history, many are now choosing to cross over to satellite TV instead. Some of the reasons are because of the bad things which can come with cable. The following are just some of the bad issues about cable TV. There are some cable TV providers which can ask for exorbitant fees but offer only limited channels. There is also no cap on the cost so the rates can just increase without giving much notice to the subscriber. This is very evident in providers which offer premium channels. There are some companies that do not ask for high fees and then there are others which ask for the higher fees per channel. Also, there are some companies which do not have good technical services so if the cable snaps it could take week or months for them to repair it, and all the time the subscriber would need to pay. When it comes to availability, this is highly dependent on the location or the area involved. There are some areas which do not offer cable TV at all. There are some homes which may have the infrastructure for cable but there are no providers and then there are some areas where there are providers and the homes are not equipped for it. Another is the number of channels. Usually cable TV only offers local channels and some live programming. ‘Some’ being the relative word here. Satellite TV can offer several hundred channels and can even show live events from both he east and the west coast where there are no cable providers available. In terms of quality of service, the one important factor is the availability of the service. Then there is the high definition programming of HD TV. Since this came out more and more cable viewers are experiencing signal compression. There is definitely a high demand for more and more channels to be accessed and more and more cable companies are reaching their capacity limits. To keep up with HD TV, they compress the bandwidth and this affect the quality of the video that is shown. This has become a frustrating issue among many cable viewers especially when information is lost when signals are compressed and without notice get uncompressed. This results to poorer quality of videos being viewed. Because of the disadvantages, and although there are really a lot of advantages for cable, more and more are now opting for satellite TV instead.
