We have all had people who have told us they were just trying to help. They may have had good intentions to help us out but it really didn’t work. Sometimes people want to help and don’t know what to do but they just try something in an attempt to show they care. We need to be mindful of those who are just trying to help and encourage them rather than dismiss them.
When we are going through bad times, as we all have, we have people who will try and make us feel better through whatever means they can. Sometimes we look at it as bothersome. Sometimes we look at it as useless. Sometimes we look at is as uncaring. However, we really need to understand their intentions are good and they want to help us.
It is hard when we are feeling low to get out of that feeling and think about the other person; however, we have to train ourselves not to have bad feelings and get depressed. We have to remember it is not always about us. It is about others. When we continuously look at what we are missing and not able to do, we can’t possibly see what others need.
Philippians 4:10 “How I praise the Lord that you are conce
ed about me again. I know you have always been conce
ed for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me.”
It could be the other person needs someone to comfort. If he or she sees that we are hurting and wants to help, we need to let them help. We may not be in the mood to be around them but we need to quit thinking about ourselves and allow others to help us. Being strong is not about doing things all by ourselves. Our strength should come from God and when we all it Him to work through us we will allow others to help us.
When we see someone in need for whatever reason and we reach out to help them, we shouldn’t listen to what others say about our actions. They will have different opinions about how we should help others. We should focus on what God tells us to do and do the right thing. Others may have good intentions about giving us advice on what to do; however, God knows what is best.
When we allow others to help us or we take time to help others and we pray about our actions, God will be in the midst of it. That is why we shouldn’t be conce
ed if the help we receive isn’t exactly what we wanted. That is why we shouldn’t be conce
ed if the help we give doesn’t work as we planned. If we begin with prayer before we give or receive help, God will make sure His will is done.
When we have the attitude and mindset God wants us to have, we can allow others to help who are just trying to help. We can encourage them and thank them for their help. We can know they are here to help others just as we are and there will be times we need assistance. God gives us the people we need when we need them. It’s time we allowed others to help us so they can make a difference, too.
