A friend of mine once said, "The fear of death seems to stem from the fear of not living the way we want to." Interesting thought.

Whether you agree with that statement or not, one thing is certain: Our time here on this mound of dirt is limited. Why not make the most of your life with the time you have left? The following are 10 ways to do exactly that.

1. Make History: Is your life worth living? Don't you think it's worth recording? Pick a time of day that works, invest 10 minutes and write. What did you learn? What did you see? 10 years from now you will be glad you did.

2. Near Death Experience: How do you want to be remembered? What do you want people to say about you when you are gone? What can you do different to make sure that happens?

3. Walk This Way: Exercise won't increase your longevity but it will create more quality in your life. You feel better, deal with stress more effectively, lose weight and have more energy.

4. Metaphysical Fitness: The best way to keep your mind sharp is to keep using it. Take a class on something you know nothing about. Learn to play a musical instrument. The more you use it, the better it will serve you.

5. Ask For It: What do you want? What is important to you? If you don't let others know, how can they help you get it? Most of us have a difficult time asking for what we want. Go ahead and ask away.

6. Be Unique: On your next vacation, instead of going where you've always gone, just head west (or east, or north, etc.) When you see something good, stay there. Go first class once in a while. If you don't, your heirs will.

7. Sweat The Small Stuff: If you want to begin a new habit, such as exercising, keep it simple. Walk around one block this week. Next week, do two blocks, and so on. Keep it going.

8. Make A List: Who do you respect? Who does what you want to do? Create a list of these people and spend more time with them. Next, make a list of those who bring out the worst in you and find a way to avoid them.

9. Apologize: Is there someone you would like to make amends with? Don't wait until it's too late. Regret weighs tons.

10. Describe It: Pretend money is no longer a concern; you have more than enough. Describe your perfect day in great detail. Where do you live? With whom? What are you doing? Are the answers different from how you currently live? Why?
