Know about the Covindia Project

The Corona Virus pandemic has gripped the world and has affected millions of us, irrespective of the country or state we stay in. Apart from staying safe at home and taking all the precautions, what is next important is knowing the truth about the situation and how it is affecting us or the whole country. In order to ensure that India’s Corona Virus situation is tracked in a manner that it details it to the district level, students from MEC Hyderabad have come up with a project of their own, known as Covindia. Covindia is the mind baby of the students from the college, who have been guided by some of the top faculty members from the same institute. Need for a different tracker There have been several coronavirus trackers from all over the world, one of the most widely used one being the one from WHO. Even though the tracker from WHO is detailed to quite the extent and gives you the countrywide scenario state wise, it did not provide the district-level analysis. Apart from that, the other trackers could only provide the country data with no more details. Covindia was started by a bunch of students who worked remotely, night and day to ensure that the data from different state and government agencies was collected in time, accumulated and uploaded for people to see. For the time that it was operational, the tracker provided real-time information in detail! The whole difference When you look at the Covindia website or the previous snapshots from when it was operational, you wouldn’t just see a table and a simple map that lays out the numbers. Instead, you will see a highly interactive user interface that combines animation, number syncing, and other important features to provide data in a new manner. The Covindia platform didn’t just give the important data and highlights, it allowed the users to check the number of active cases, recoveries, a number of deaths, and other important details without much effort - with all of them listed out easily. From what is to be believed, the students also tried their best to integrate the containment zone list to help people identify risk ones in their district and state. Being shut down Unfortunately, the pandemic situation has gotten out of hands and the data being generated from the agencies is monumental. As these were just students who were trying to burn even the midnight oil to upload the information, they could not handle the enormous amount of tasks without help or assistance. This is the reason why that as of May 31, they decided to shut down the operations as well as the website, making Covindia a legacy project that will always be remembered as one of the best-detailed trackers for pandemic situations. If not now, the government or private organisations can probably look at developing a tracker like it, only bigger in scale and operations so that they are able to help people out with the information in real-time in a manner that would be more comfortable for Indians.
