Digital camera batteries are the main equipment of digital cameras. Digital cameras are the most popular gadgets of the 21st century. Digital cameras are specified to click photographs or videos. They work digitally through an electronic image sensor.

Generally, two types of batteries are modified in the digital cameras - Off-the-shelf batteries and proprietary batteries;

Batteries for digital cameras: Off-the-shelf batteries

The off-the-shelf digital camera batteries may be reusable as well as disposable. The off-the-shelf batteries are also rechargeable. The most common types of off-the-shelf batteries are AA, CR-V3 and CR-2. However, the AAA off-the-shelf are the most commonly used in digital cameras. The CR-V3 and CR-2 batteries with lithium base are meant for single use. The CR-V3 and CR-2 batteries are implemented in camcorders. The AA off-the-shelf batteries are very common among the modern digital cameras. Non-rechargeable alkaline batteries are modified in low-end cameras, which help to power the cameras for a short period of time. The implementation of alkaline batteries is common in the cameras that are of occasional use.

Batteries for digital cameras: Proprietary batteries

The proprietary digital camera batteries are systematically modified in the digital cameras on the customized specifications of the manufacturer. The proprietary batteries are basically lithium ion coated. The proprietary digital camera batteries can be recharged only for specified times, before the battery begins to degrade. (Generally from 450-500 cycles).The proprietary digital camera batteries provide advance performances in both high-end and low-end digital cameras.

The disposable digital camera batteries are lighter than the rechargeable digital camera batteries. The digital camera, which possesses a long battery life with utmost power, is a good digital camera. The batteries for digital cameras should be conserved carefully so that it can provide a long-lasting service.

Protection of digital camera batteries:

  • The camera should be turned off when not in use.
  • Digital cameras possess an LCD viewfinder as well as an ordinary one. Use the ordinary one if not the LCD is not too necessary as the ordinary viewfinder requires low power and thus, preserves the battery power.
  • Avoid using a stop after every shoot; you can click multiple pictures back to back without a pause (startup and stop).
  • Zoom and flash option consume more power, so avoid using them until too necessary.
