First we will discuss on choosing a right toothbrush for your teeth. The best advice that your dentist will give you while choosing a toothbrush is that; choose a brush with soft bristles. Hard bristles can damage the surface of the teeth and gums and can bleed them also. You can also wet your bristles into hot water to make it softer if you find it harsh on your teeth. Nylon bristles are the best on teeth as it moves on the surface of teeth and gums smoothly without damaging them. Choose a dental brush with large handles as it will make easy for you to move it inside your mouth. One more things that needs to be taken care while buying toothbrush is the size of it’s head. Make sure you buy an oral brush with smaller head as it can easily move inside your mouth and clean the hard to reach areas as well. There are several famous brand of toothbrush available in the market including Colgate toothbrush, Curaprox tooth brush, Curadent, DHB toothbrush, Endekay brush, Sensodyne toothbrush, OralB and Quafresh tooth brush. You can consult your dentist to choose the right type of toothbrush matching to your teeth.
Second on list and the equally important thing is the brushing technique. Brush your teeth smoothly and move a brush at 45 degree from the tooth surface. Clean from all sides of the teeth; outer, inner and back of the teeth as well. Move your brush in a rotating manner. Follow this practice twice or not more than thrice a day with good fluoride containing toothpaste. Make sure not to give extra pressure while brushing your teeth.
These are some of the techniques that can help to clean your teeth. However do not forget to clean your tongue and palate as it is one of the possible places for bacteria to grow. Using floss or interdental brush is essential to maintain good oral hygiene. It helps to clean the smaller portion between the teeth where a regular toothbrush cannot reach. Also use mouthwash to cleans the mouth and prevent bad breath problem. Following these brushing techniques and choosing right toothbrushes can help to prevent some serious dental disease like periodontitis and gingivitis.
