It all has to match if you want to live a happy life!
In my experience as a workshop facilitator, speaker and coach, over the past 25 years, this is the question that gets me the most blank stares from people! Geez, most of us don't even know what we want for supper tonight, let alone what we want for our lives!
Are you just reactively going through life, from day to day, hour by hour, taking whatever comes your way? Is that good enough for you? What lessons are you teaching your children? Have you 'settled' because it's easy, safe and not as scary as living the life you really want? As human beings, we can easily identify what we don't want to have happen in our lives.
The Thought
I don't want to go to that movie. I don't want liver for supper. I don't to spend another day at this job. I don't want to be gaining weight. I don't want to live in debt anymore.
The Belief
I'm not worthy.
I don't deserve...
I don't have the time to plan...
It's amazing to me how much our core beliefs, and our self-talk, hold us back from creating and living the life we truly want. This is not difficult to change, but it does take time and it does take commitment.
The Action
You must invent your future or someone else will...
As I keep saying, you are responsible for your own happiness. This life is not a dress rehearsal! You must take charge and create a plan. You do that for weddings, for summer vacation, for Christmas Dinner! Isn't your life just as important?
This first Step is the foundation for getting out of a rut, getting past the fear, 'scrap the crap', getting unstuck ...whatever it is that is holding you back...this is the step that will set you on the path to a life of happiness, less stress, more time for you and your family and more opportunities to 'enjoy the moments'.
I've seen it, time and time again, when we get clear on what we want in life, you can feel the energy release! It happens to me, each and every time I sit down to review my Life Balance Wheel and get clear on what I want to have happen in my life for the next 6 months. It's a ritual for me and the personal growth and development have been phenomenal; same thing with my clients! And it gets easier. That's when you know who is in control of you life...and if not you, then who?
