Being able to analyze and understand human behavior is an extremely useful skill with limitless applications. After completing an applied behavior analysis program, graduates can work in almost any field or industry. Below introduces five careers made possible with a degree in behavior analysis. Human Resource Professional A Human Resources professional needs the unique interpersonal skills and knowledge that come with completing a behavior analysis degree. HR professionals work with both internal personnel and members of the public to maintain the company’s staffing needs and legal compliance. HR professionals spend the majority of their time recruiting, interviewing and working with new employees. In addition to this, they also deal with sensitive employee issues. Child Protective Service (CPS) Worker The primary function of a CPS, or Social worker, is to protect the safety and health of children in potentially neglectful or abusive homes. This challenging position requires regular interaction with hostile clients who typically have criminal, substance abuse and interpersonal problems. CPS workers generally try to create safety plans for the child to remain at home. However, if necessary, the child may need to be removed with assistance from law enforcement. A behavior analysis degree is an excellent educational addition to the standard bachelor’s degree in social work. Parole Officer Parole officers generally work outside correctional facilities. They work directly with recently release prisoners to help them re-adjust to society and properly function. This involves regularly scheduled telephone check-ins and face-to-face office visits. The ultimate goal is to help the recent offenders successfully re-integrate into society and avoid committing any more crimes. This may involve drug testing, skill and job training and helping offenders re-connect with family and friends. Addiction Counselor Treatment facilities around America rely on addiction counselors to help teens and adults struggling with substance abuse addictions. Addiction counselors work one-on-one with addicts to assess their needs and provide a customized treatment plan. Addiction counselors regularly meet with their clients to follow up with their progress, teach effective coping skills and help identify destructive thought and behavioral patterns. An online behavior analysis degree from the University of Cincinnati is an excellent way to learn the necessary skills and knowledge needed to become an addiction counselor. Certified Behavior Analyst A certified behavior analyst works with individuals of all ages and backgrounds to help them overcome their problems and reach their goals. Many behavior analysts work in educational or industrial settings. For example, some behavior analysts work in schools to assess disabled students’ development and educational progress.
