There is a great deal to consider when it comes to proposing to your partner. Not only do you need to make sure that she is ready for you to ask for her hand and that she won’t go running for the hills the moment you get down on one knee, but you also need to be sure that you too are ready. If you have found yourself looking at diamond engagement rings and have already rehearsed how you might ask her, then there is a good chance that you yourself are ready. If you know that she is the person you want to spend your life with and that you truly wish to experience new things with her, then it probably is indeed time to think about engagement rings. However, if you simply feel that you have been together for so long that it is only right to ask her or that she expects you to, discussing what you both want from life is probably a more sensible idea than just begrudgingly popping the question. Ultimately, before you look at buying diamond engagement rings, you should know in your heart that she is the one. Next, you need to be sure that you are in the right place in your life to commit. Are you ready to settle down? Can you afford engagement rings or the wedding or a place where you can both live happily together? If so, all that remains is to be sure that she too is ready. Timing can be very important with a proposal. If you leave it too late, she may well feel that you do not care as much as she thinks, but if you ask too soon she may well be worried that you are rushing into it. Look for hints that she is ready to settle down and maybe ask the opinion of her friends and family about what she wants from her future. If she talks a lot about your future and you can see that you are a big part of her life plans, the answer is likely to be that she is indeed ready.
