Kumbhalgarh also called Kumbhalmer or Kumbalgarh is a Mewar fortress located 84 km from Udaipur in Rajasthan State. Because of its grand construction, this fort is the second most significant fort of Rajasthan after Chittorgarh, which was built during the reign of Maharana Kumbha in 15th century A.D. This fort is also a birthplace of Maharana Pratap, the great king and warrior of Mewar. This magnificent fort is among the renowned attractions of Rajasthan Tourism where tourists come to see the preserved cultural and historical legacies of audacious Mewar rulers. The fort is situated on hilltop 1,914 meters above the sea level. The fort is fortified with 36 Km long thick wall. Scores of tourists visit this fort to see its scattered attractions of 360 temples, numerous palaces, gardens, and 700 cannon bunkers. Some of the popular attractions of this magnificent fort are: Aret Pol This is among the known attractions of this fort famous for its challenging structure. It is the first gate of Kumbhalgarh Fort through which tourists can enter the fort. This gate is equipped with mirror, which sends signals to all other gates in times of emergency. Kartargarh This is the magnificent fort built inside the Kumbhalgarh fort itself. Though it has become ruin, but it attracts scores of tourists because of its amazing construction. Kartargarh is known for its 365 temples among which the most famous one is massive Shivlinga (devoted to Lord Shiva) were large number of devotees come because of religious purposes. Hanuman Pol It is the third magnificent gate of this fort famous for its architectural design. This is also the gate for entering the Hanumana shrine. Lord Hanuman is the ardent devotee of Lord Rama. The idol of this shrine was brought by Maharana Kumbha from Mandore in Marwar. Badal Mahal This is the beautiful palace inside the fort renowned for its design, decorations and construction. The majestic Palace is known for its huge apartments like structure, which is painted in pastel-colored murals. The design and decorations of this palace showcase the lavishness of Mewar rulers. Apart from these tourists also get an amazing bird’s-eye view of the fort. Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary This is one of the popular nearby attractions where tourists come in a large number to see the scattered charm of flora and fauna. It is one of the famous national parks of Rajasthan sprawled over an area of 286 sq km. Along with the exotic collection of flora and fauna this park is also famous for its avifauna species. Ranakpur Jain Temples Ranakpur Jain Temples is the two temples devoted to the Jain saints Parasnath and Neminath. The temple is known for its exquisitely carved 444 marble pillars that support the temple. All the pillars are differently carved, and no two pillars are the same.
