If you target a group that is too large or vague, however, your membership site won't earn you a lot because not a lot of people in those kinds of markets are willing to pay for site memberships. Make sure that you keep your membership exclusive and target the people who are looking for specific solutions to specific problems that they will be happy to pay to get. Doesn't this seem like pretty much the perfect niche market for you? Of course it is! The key to success with finding the right market is to avoid pleasing everyone, and go for small group of people that will buy your site's membership for the benefits it offers. Focus on the Needs: Choosing a target market based on your hunch or assumption is not the right way to go about when launching your membership site. You need to actually spend some time looking into and getting ready for your market as best you can so that you can actively meet the needs of your chosen audience. The first thing that you need to do is make sure that your market has an established interest in a topic that you can cover in your membership site. The stability growth and appetite for information of your market are also important. You can't make a wrong decision when it comes to selecting a good market, because if you do, it'll be difficult to go back and correct your mistake. Focus on the things your target audience needs most and the ways in which you can meet those needs.
Do Some Competitive Analysis: It would be a terrible idea to simply launch your site without first doing some competitive analysis on your competition to see where you stand. This is where niche isn't a factor: you need to watch your competition to make sure that you are consistently better than they are. Try to figure out how your competitors are tackling their marketing, how they price their wares and what kind of promotion they use to reach new buyers. Always remember, the more you know about your competitors and their habits, the easier will be your growth in the long run.
