Lazy Top Laundry Tips of the week of common stain issues found in house cleaning!

It is time for some top laundry tips of the week! We want to teach you how to care for your fabrics and how our house cleaning service providers would have done it for you! Whether you are homemaker looking to solve a stain challenge, looking for a cleaning service or part time maid, here are our sure-fire tips to help you tackle these house cleaning issues! CHOCOLATE Hmmhmmmm, one of our cardinal sins. Chocolate.
  1. When the stain strikes, gently scrape off any excess chocolate.
  2. Once you get the item home, soak it in cool water.
  3. Then soak with a prewash stain remover like the Vanish stain remover.
  4. Launder in the washing machine in the hottest water that’s safe for the fabric.
  5. If stain remains, rewash using a bleach safe for fabric.
COFFEE / TEA So caffeine addicts….
  1. Gently sponge or soak stain in cool water.
  2. Soak with prewash stain remover, liquid laundry detergent, liquid detergent booster or paste of powder laundry product and water.
  3. Launder using sodium hypochlorite bleach, if safe for fabric, or oxygen bleach. (Note: Older stains may respond to r soaking in a product containing enzymes, then laundering.)
COSMETICS / LIPSTICK Whether that lipstick stain is yours or not, lets get it off fast….
  1. Soak with prewash stain remover, liquid laundry detergent, paste of powder detergent or laundry additive and water. Or, rub the stain with bar soap.
  2. Launder in the washing machine.
CRAYONS When kids take over….. For a Few Spots:
  1. Scrape off crayon wax with a dull knife or dampen the stain and rub with bar soap.
  2. Place stain between clean paper towels and press with a warm iron.
  3. Replace paper towels frequently to absorb more wax and to avoid transferring stains.
  4. Place stain facedown on clean paper towels. Sponge remaining stain with prewash stain remover or cleaning fluid like Vanish; blot with paper towels.
  5. and then let it dry.
  6. Launder using hottest water safe for fabric.
  7. If colour remains, launder using sodium hypochlorite bleach, if safe for fabric. Otherwise, soak in a product containing enzymes or an oxygen bleach using hottest water safe for fabric, then launder.
For a Whole Load of Clothes:
  1. Wash with hot water using a laundry soap and 1 cup (212 g) baking soda.
  2. If colour remains, launder using sodium hypochlorite bleach, if safe for fabric. Otherwise, soak in a product containing enzymes or an oxygen bleach using hottest water safe for fabric, then launder.
DAIRY PRODUCTS We all love milk, its usually a safer stain
  1. Soak stains using a product containing enzymes.
  2. Soak for at least 30 minutes or several hours for aged stains.
  3. Launder in the washing machine.
DYE TRANSFER FROM COLOUR CLOTHES You got that problem where you have colour transfer from you coloured clothes to your white clothes when you launder them in the same washing machine?
  1. Attempt restoration of white fabrics that have picked up colour from other fabrics or clothes by using a packaged colour remover, following label directions.
  2. Launder or wash in the washing machine.
  3. If dye remains, launder again using sodium hypochlorite bleach, if safe for fabric. For non-color fast fabrics, soak in oxygen bleach, then launder in the washing machine.

  2. Soak for at least 30 minutes or several hours for aged stains.
  3. Launder in the washing machine.
GRASS Rolled around the gross too much and now you’re green?
  1. Soak in a product containing enzymes like Persil bio detergents
  2. And just launder it in the washing machine after
  3. If stain persists, launder using sodium hypochlorite bleach, if safe for fabric, or oxygen bleach.
GREASE AND OIL So, here’s a common one. Light Stains:
  1. Soak with prewash stain remover, liquid laundry detergent or liquid detergent booster like the Vanish Stain Remover.
  2. Launder in the washing machine using hottest water safe for fabric.
Heavy Stains:
  1. Place the stain facedown on clean paper towels. Apply cleaning fluid to back of stain.
  2. Replace paper towels under stain frequently.
  3. Let dry, rinse it then launder in the washing machine using hottest water safe for fabric.
ICE CREAM OOOO another sin we all love and are usually not careful with.
  1. Soak stains using a product containing enzymes like Persil bio detergents.
  2. Soak for at least 30 minutes – longer if the stains are old.
  3. Launder in the washing machine using the warmest water that’s safe for the fabric.
INK You have been using that ball pen of yours for doing more than writing. Prewash Stain Remover:
  1. Soak using a prewash stain remover like the Vanish Stain Remover.
  2. Launder in the washing machine.
Denatured Alcohol / Ethanol or Cleaning Fluid:
  1. Sponge the area around the stain with the alcohol or cleaning fluid before applying it directly on the stain.
  2. Place stain facedown on clean paper towels. Apply alcohol or cleaning fluid to back of stain. Replace paper towels frequently.
  3. Rinse thoroughly then launder in the washing machine.
Alternate Method for Denatured Alcohol/ Ethanol or Cleaning Fluid:
  1. Place stain over mouth of a jar or glass; and tie a rubber band around the mouth of the jar.
  2. Drip the alcohol or cleaning fluid through the stain so ink will drop into the container as it is being removed.
  3. Rinse thoroughly then launder in the washing machine.
WOOD STAIN Yea wood also can get stains lol. Water-based wood stain
  1. Lay down a thick layer of white paper towels. Place the stained clothing on top of the paper towels, with the stain face down on the paper towels.
  2. Pour a capful of acetoneonto the stain. Dip a clean, white rag into the acetone.
  3. Blot the stain with the acetone-soaked rag.
  4. Press the stain into the paper towels.
  5. Move the stained fabric around the surface of the paper towels to clean areas after each blotting.
  6. Rub the stain beginning at the outer edges and working your way toward the center. Continue to blot and rub the clothing until the stain disappears.
oil-based wood stain
  1. Place a thick layer of white paper towels on a work surface.
  2. Lay the stained fabric facing down on the paper towels.
  3. Dip a clean, white rag into mineral spirits.
  4. Blot the stain, beginning at the outer edge of the stain.
  5. Push the stain into the paper towels to transfer the wood stain from the fabric onto the paper towels. Move the stained fabric from place to place on the paper towel surfaces.
  6. Continue to dip the rag into mineral spirits and blot the stain until it is removed.
launder the garment
  1. Rinse the garment and launder as usual.
  2. Once the clothing is removed from the wash, inspect for any remaining stains.
  3. Repeat the stain removal process if necessary, before placing the clothing in the dryer.
But why deal with these stains and waste time researching on how to deal with these challenges when you can simply let cleaning services deal with it. Remember that you can always get a cleaning service or a part time maid who attends to laundry while dealing with the home cleaning.
