Wine – the drink of well heeled, it act as the toast of high society. Best wine has dominated the best men of great tastes. Wine has been introduced to the mankind as early as 6000 to 4000 BC. Georgia and Iran shows the earliest evidence. Ever since, wine has played a very important role in ceremonies and celebrations. Wine is prepared from the fermentation of grape juice hence it is an alcoholic beverage. Nutrients like acids, sugars or enzymes are not needed for grapes during the fermentation process. This is because wine is considered to be one of the natural drinks in the world. In today’s market there are many types of wine. Types of wines Generally wines are divided into two major groups. Namely Red wine and White wine. In the world there are around forty types of red wine grapes and fifty types of white wine grapes that are used to produce red and white wines. Red Wine Red wines are prepared using the grape juice that contains seeds, stems and skin of the grape. These parts are used for maceration. In this process the juice is allowed to mix with the woody bits which allow the final product to contain tannins. The red wines get its complexity from tannins and make them heavier. Depending upon the grape variety different types of wines get different color. The red wines may contain the following color varieties like dark red, light red, ruby red, maroon, deep violet, black, or opaque purple. The best serving temperature for this wine is 60 to 65 Fahrenheit, since too warm wine can give an evident taste of alcohol and at the same time too cold wines may give more bitter taste. White wines are prepared using black grapes. White wines are not just used for drinking but they are also used for cooking. Fermenting white wines till the least amount of sugar is left in the juice to get the dry white wines. This is done to get maximum amount of alcohol. Because of the tart acid taste of the dry white wine they are used for cooking and they are not so sweet also.
