Progesterone is one of the hormones in women’s body that stimulates and regulates various functions and low level of progesterone can cause the infertility and decrease the quality of life.

Progesterone plays an important role in maintaining pregnancy. This hormone is produced in the ovaries, the placenta (when a woman gets pregnant) and the adrenal glands. It helps preparing your body for conception and pregnancy and also controls the monthly menstrual cycle.

The most important role of Progesterone in Women is to stimulate the endometrium to secrete unique proteins during the second half of the menstrual cycle, preparing it to receive and nourish an implanted fertilized egg. If implantation does not occur, estrogen and progesterone levels drop, the endometrium breaks down and menstruation occurs.

If a pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppress further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy.

What can the low level of progesterone tell us about?
Progesterone is rightly considered the main hormone for maintaining pregnancy. Up to 12 weeks it is produced by the yellow body, and after this period by the placenta. A low level of progesterone can lead to:
1. a normal "healthy" pregnancy despite low levels of secretion by the yellow body;
2. The interruption of pregnancy.

What can we do?
With an adequate increase in hCG, but a low level of progesterone, especially when combined with clinical signs of impending abortion we can support hormonal levels in an attempt to prolong (and save) pregnancy:
- drugs to stop bleeding (in the presence of blood secretions);
- spasmolytic therapy (if pain in the lower abdomen);
- Progesteron therapy;
--If initially HCG is low with an inadequate increase in it from the very first days of observation, HCG supplementation.

A low level of progesterone may be the result of an unsuccessful pregnancy. Overly massive support will not "save" pregnancy, but only prolongs the struggle of the organism. And this can play a cruel joke. The earlier the pregnancy is interrupted, the better for the health of the uterus and further planning.

PROGESTERON is a main hormone of femininity. A woman with normal progesterone is:
-happy and fluttering
-can easily lose weight
-Has no problems with food dependence
-Has regular menses and good hair
-Expresses emotions
-Has no problems with conception and bearing pregnancy
-As well as everyone, may get sad, but quickly recover

If on the other hand the progesterone is low, the main symptoms are
-depression
-weight gain
-lack of sexual desire
-nausea
-tiredness
-irritability
-dizziness
-moodiness

How to help yourself to increase your level of progesterone:
1. Learn how to control yourself, if you have panic attack, you should go to psychologist and try to stay positive.
2. Be motivated and to do sport - good shape will bring you the satisfaction for yourself and increase the level of the hormones for happiness.
3. A high protein diet. Meat, beans, dairy products.

Many situations for which progestin or progestin-estrogen combinations are advised cannot be reversed. Menopause, for example, is a normal phase of life. But while the changes in hormone levels can’t be avoided, the intense symptoms these changes may cause can often be relieved through medication and/or lifestyle changes.

As your body changes during pregnancy, it is very important to communicate openly with both your partner and your fertility specialist. Tell both about your symptoms and the physical and emotional changes you experience. Your fertility specialist will be able to help you discover how to better manage and treat those symptoms, including how to maintain a healthy sex life.
