So you've been burning the midnight oil when it comes to working on your new fitness regime - including changing your diet and engaging in moderate exercise - but you still haven't encountered the results you're looking for. Maybe those last few pounds are just stubbornly holding on, or that six pack abs is just out of reach; whatever the problem may be, you need a good swift kick in the pants to strengthen your exercise routine to get results.

First of all, you should know that you're in good company, as many people begin their exercise regimes all fired up, doing everything they're supposed to, yet somehow seem to be languishing when it comes to their results. However, this isn't when you should give up: instead, you should think about taking steps to make sure your ab exercise routine is as vigorous as it can be by making sure you're not making the most common mistakes.

The first thing you're going to need to do is to make sure you haven't reached a fitness plateau. If at first you found it a serious burden to complete a certain exercise but now find it all too easy, your body may have acclimated to the activity, which means you'll have to just push yourself that much harder in order to keep seeing results: push a little farther or faster on the treadmill, or add more weight or more repetitions to weightlifting or body-weight exercises, and soon you'll have climbed over that plateau and back on track towards your fitness goals.

You should also make sure that when you are engaging in exercises that your form and posture is correct. You should be avoiding engaging in activities that reduce the effect of exercise, such as locking your feet while performing stomach crunches or sit ups, or focusing too much on flexion exercises while engaging in core exercises; while it may seem perfectly instinctual to lock your feet on a sit up or abdominal crunch, you end up using the wrong sets of muscles to do the work and end up not working the muscles you actually need to - and likewise when you focus on core strengthening exercises that target hip flexion without incorporating other core exercises designed to strengthen your back and your abdominal muscles, you're missing out on fantastic opportunities to sculpt those ripped abs you want so badly.
