Learning One's Chakras

The Third Eye is located in the centre of the forehead. It is associated with intuition, imagination, clairvoyance and introspection. By activating the third eye, you can see more clearly into yourself and your needs. The third eye is related to the colour indigo and the musical note A. It governs the hypothalamus, nose, and ears.

The Throat chakra is located on the throat. It is associated with communication, speech, and creativity, as well as with truth and loyalty. The throat chakra is characterised by sky blue colours and the musical note G. Tied to this chakra are the throat, mouth, and thyroid glands.

The Sacral chakra is located in the lower abdomen, and is the centre of sexual energy, procreation, and also governs joy and tolerance. This chakra is characterised by the colour orange and the musical note D. Organs pertaining to procreation, such as the womb, ovaries, testicles, and prostate are all governed by the sacral chakra, as well as the urinary tract are all governed by this chakra.

The Heart chakra is located in the centre of the chest, over the heart. It is associated with love, compassion, harmony, and is considered the centre of the soul. The heart chakra is the chakra by which we connect to other living beings. It is characterised by the colour green and the musical note F, and governs the heart, lungs, hands, and circulatory system.

The Solar Plexus chakra is located just below the physical solar plexus, in the centre of the stomach. It is the centre of humour, willpower, and confidence, or in other words: Guts. It is characterised by the colour yellow and the musical note E. Most organs tied to digestion are ruled by this chakra, including the stomach, pancreas, liver, as well as the adrenal glands and the body’s musculature system.

The Crown chakra is located either on top of the head or in the space just above the top of the head, depending on an individual’s attunement and aura. The crown is associated with the infinite universe and one’s connection to it, as well as spirituality and idealistic being. It is tied to the colour violet, and the musical note B. The crown governs the central nervous system, cerebral cortex, and the brain.

Chakras are the energy points at the body. In Indian tradition, there are many chakras throughout the body, but there are 7 major chakra points in the human body. Each chakra has a different meaning and purpose, hosting different energies and corresponding to different emotional, spiritual, and physical conditions. The seven main chakra are the Crown, the Third Eye, the Throat, the Heart, the Solar Plexus, the Sacral, and the Root.

The final major chakra is the Root chakra, located at the base of the spine. Feelings of instinct, vitality, passion, as well as courage and creative power are centred here. The chakra is characterised by the colour red and the musical tone C. The root governs the lower intestines, kidneys, spinal column, as well as bones and the legs.
