As most couples would know, going through a divorce procedure is a harrowing experience in itself. Of course there is the process of weighing the pros and cons of divorce: “Do we really want this?” “Is there really no other option?” “What about the children?” “What about the joint properties?” Once the couple has decided that ending the marriage is the best option for them, they eventually have to go through the process of dealing with lawyers, courts, and thousands of dollars worth of fees. With all this hassle, surely, couples would surely opt for a cheaper and more convenient legal aid for divorce. But how do you even begin doing that? Tip No. 1: Look for state-sponsored legal aid offices. States usually have a public legal aid office which aims to cater to the needs of those who are in need of legal services but are pressed for financial resources. These offices aim to deliver an equal opportunity for justice to its clients, despite their lack of resources. If you don’t have the money to pay for a private counsel and yet, you feel like you have a strong case against your spouse, don’t hesitate to go to these local legal aid offices. Just make sure that you file your case the soonest time possible, because it might take a while before they process your papers.rnTip No. 2: Find a local organization which can help you forward your case. If you have no idea how to contact a legal aid, find an organization which can help you give all the contacts—along with the support—that you need. Some of these organizations have websites set up online so if you are in dire need of any form of support, look them up on the internet. One site offers cheap and fast divorce, because they already have the documents needed to take the process to the next stage. They also hire knowledgeable counsels who know how to interpret legal jargons that often put couples into so much more trouble—some couples find their documents rejected simply because they did not understand the process right.rnTip No. 3: If you are going to file for state-sponsored legal aid for divorce, make sure that you stand firm with your decision. If you don’t want to risk getting your application for legal aid rejected, make sure that you are all set to divorce your spouse. Sometimes, applications for legal aid get rejected when there’s a high chance that the couple will get back together again so if you do not want that to happen, present a strong rationale on why you are divorcing your spouse. If you were hurt physically or verbally, put that in your application.rnTip No 4: If you really can’t find a lawyer or an organization that will assist you in your case, consider taking alternatives to traditional court-and-lawyer mediated divorce procedures. If you are patient enough, try reading both print and online resources on how to file a divorce procedure on a budget. Since different laws apply to every state, you might want to go to your public library and read which rules apply to your state. If you can’t find it in your local library, then just type it up on the internet.rnTip No. 5: Ask people who have already gone through a divorce procedure. If you have friends or acquaintances that have already gone through the harrowing process of getting a legal aid for divorce, you can ask them for tips and advice. Ask them what you should and what you should not do when you’re trying to hire a legal counsel. Ask them what preparations should be done to make the process go as smooth as possible. And if it isn’t too much, ask them if they can serve as your support system. At a very stressful time like this, it is important that you have people who can back you up.
