There is no law that says you have to do things the same way everyone else does when you are cold-calling for sales. These days, a lot of the old-fashioned ways of selling are no longer working, and entrepreneurs must look for new and exciting ways to sell their products and services. Believe it or not, if you get a little bit pushy (but not too much), you can get exactly what you want. Just think about bratty little boys. How often have you seen one be rewarded for being a brat? Quite often probably. You can actually take a lesson or two from brats like this, and here are some of the things you can learn: Brats get all the attention: Kids that are brats will do pretty much anything to get attention, and it usually works. Take a lesson from this, and start going out of your way to get the attention you want your business to have. Be creative, kids are, and they usually get what they want because they are. Don't be over the top and so obnoxious that no one can stand to be around you, but push to get the attention you need to make your sales. There are plenty of advertising campaigns that use this strategy, and they usually seem to work pretty well. Brats don't give up until they get what they want: How many times have you heard “I'm gonna hold my breath until I turn blue unless I get what I want”? This is a tactic bratty kids have been using for years, and it often works quite well. When a brat wants something, he will be relentless until he gets it. This is how you should approach your sales. Know what you want, and go for it, not taking no for an answer. Now, it is important to know where to draw the line with this, because if you are too pushy, you will have the opposite effect of what you are going for. Be tenacious and stubborn, and you will usually see the results you want in the long run. Brats don't care about being a little bit reckless: Although you should never be too reckless, a little bit of recklessness will take you a long way in the business world. Don't be afraid to take risks to get the results you want. You are going to need to have a lot of confidence, and this will come in time. You will probably be more timid at first, but as you get used to being a little reckless, you will be less and less afraid to shake things up once in a while. Again, brats want what they want, and they don't always care what they have to do to get it. Are you this determined when it comes to sales? Never give up on your clients. Just because they say “no” today doesn't mean that they are not going to say “yes” tomorrow, which means that in the end, just like a brat, you get what you want. Just make sure that you do things tactfully, and don't obsess over results.
