Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and bumpy roads; crooked and straight roads. There will be roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are as many roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness.
The one thing roads have in common is that the journey almost always begins with a decision. If faced with four roads to choose from and limited knowledge as to what awaits you at the other end, which road would you choose? What’s the guarantee that the one you choose will be the right one? Will you risk taking a road into the unknown, or will you cling to the familiar and stay where you are?
There are no guarantees
There are no guarantees that choosing to do the right thing will always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that devotion will be received in return. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you make, and how you respond to each situation. It’s not what happens to you, it’s what you do about it.
Wrong decisions are inevitable.
No one is perfect. If you knew you were about to make a wrong decision, would you go ahead with it? Of course not, but that should never prevent you from having the confidence to make future decisions. Do your research to understand your options, and learn from your experiences, right or wrong. Decision making is like building muscles, the more you do it, the stronger and more confident you will become.
Trust yourself and make that decision.
Make the choice to confidently take the road that will allow you to live your life to the fullest rather remaining a bystander or a passive audience. Second guessing each decision will only add unnecessary stress, and lead to missed opportunities.
Whether a decision is right or wrong, only time will tell, but whatever the outcome, take heart that you have chosen the road that will lead you to become all that you can be.
