Link Baiting is a trick of attracting people with variety of practices. It basically used by bloggers to naturally make notice, come back to, link to and discussing it on forums and promote the blog to others. It should not distract the visitors from what they are actually looking for. It works in four stages, Link bait launch, the long tail of links, Residual traffic and Attention, Search engine rankings. Link bait launch: In the first stage, if a new content is released, it is immediately shared with outstanding bloggers and submitted in directories like Digg, del.icio.us, Reddit and Netscape. Long tail of links: Secondly, if the content gains some visibility in some outstanding sites, it spread across the world. Residual Traffic and Attention: The potential link bait does not kill the traffic even if you do not update it for 48 hours. Search engine ranking: The huge inflow links will cause good boost to the link popularity of the content, as well as an overall boost in global site popularity. Thus the search engine ranking increases. There are many techniques to promote the blogs. Providing good Tools and software: By creating some useful tools to other website owners so it can be used in their blogs which itself acts as an inbound link to your site. Humor: It is an easiest way to grab users as the every body like humor. By writing some funny humor stories, interesting picture, poking fun cartoons with link to your sites has better feedback. News: By providing fresh and current news brings honours to the blogs. The industrial news can produce good inbound links but it should be a unique post without rehashing. If you post the content related to current topics with unique style people who impressed with post will put your link on their websites or blogs Quizzes and contest: The quizzes, interesting polls, surveys and puzzles are quite common and much interested to take part in it. People like to participate in contest; they are much interested if they announce great prizes to be won. Controversy: Likewise, controversial posts are very strong impact and very quicker reaction from those who reading the post and creates many back links. Awards: The awards contests are quite common in the beginning and end of the year as many bloggers announce various types of awards in different categories. From, this award declaration many inbound links and traffic will be produced to the site. Forum: People always try to link with forums. The question and answer submitted on the forums attract many visitors and thereby creates many inbound links. Statistics and researchers: The well researched popular topics may get more inbound links. For example the web development company Germany could take a survey on the number of clients and their countries. They can even publish it as an article which may create more inbound links to the company’s site. Widgets and freebies: Some more inbound links can be attracted by creating some freebies and widgets. Free widgets like hit counter can be provided, these widgets have link below them so whenever the hit counter is clicked it links to the home page of your blog.
