Linking - Search engine rankings still come down to links
Much has been written about link popularity and many webmasters have spent hours or even days to figure out the best way to improve your situation. If you look at the search engine like Google, Yahoo and MSN, we find that link popularity is computed as part of complex algorithms and basically a measure of how many web pages that link to a particular site. This in turn suggests how to establish a rank order when compared to competing sites in the same subject. Yahoo and MSN have fallen behind on Google when it comes to the use of link popularity, but in view of strong competition have been forced to re-template algorithms.
The Google Page Rank tool can help shed some light on the popularity of your pages, but should not be regarded as a complete mirror of link popularity. First, it is perhaps worth noting that Google only updates the page rank of 3 or 4 months. Therefore, if your pages are not yet classified may be that Google has not has everything to do it. On the other hand, get a Page Rank of 0 (zero) does not mean that your website totally sucks. Page rank 0, simply means that your site is in the system and waiting for a more meaningful once Google has had time to monitor and check how your site to match.
We all talk a lot about this engine Google is now responsible for traffic much more potential than any other. Many webmasters have created inbound links it with just the search engine in mind. But getting links to a website is a good idea, regardless of any algorithm of search engines. The old idea of cultivating link partners as a means to increase traffic clicks, still has much merit. The general rule is to remember that in general terms - the joint, is a good link.
Developing a successful link strategy can take much time and effort. A common mistake is to jump to conclusions too quickly. As Google moves on it at their own pace, which makes a web site today can take a number of days, weeks or months to appear. Much depends on whether we are talking about new pages or changes to old pages set. Often the search results go from top 10 to nowhere and perhaps back again. The new pages are particularly volatile. This is because Google recognizes that the new pages that have little in the way of links to them and thus effectively gives a pass. After approximately 30 - 40 days Google checks whether the links have been built at the site in question. Lack of increase suggests links page will be relegated to the additional contribution of Google, while the links will remain on the main index. In general, it seems that any new page will have a maximum of 90 to 180 days for a certain amount of page rank after the first actual implementation.
There is no real secret to making link popularity and rate of change in the page. Unless we adopt an approach ridiculously spam 9 out of 10 times your efforts will be rewarded with a positive change. The approach you take can vary from a simple link exchange, article syndication directories, or orientation. Of course, there are many other methods, but most importantly, take action and to keep it going in the long term. A high level of care that lasts only a short period of time can sometimes do more harm than good. Google is looking for a gradual but sustained increase in links to your site. If their efforts only move a little place in the standings this just goes to show that their efforts have been too small for the area in which it competes. The only real option is to revise its strategy and duplicate your efforts.
