Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure which is used to enhance the beauty of the lips. Nowadays various techniques and methods are used to perform lip augmentation. Lips can be enhanced with the help of injectable fillers and surgical implants. Before going under this procedure you should know that if you are right candidate for the lip enhancement.

Lip augmentation is an excellent procedure which is getting popular world wide but like all other medical procedures it is also having benefits and complications. Most of the times this cosmetic procedure gives positive results but have some potential risks. The most common risks are soreness, swelling, infections and inflammation. Almost every surgeon prescribe antibiotics for the prevention of the infections. In some cases lumping and scarring is also seen. Implant rejection is not frequent but also seen in some patients. In the case of rejection the implant is removed and reinserted. You should discuss all the risks and complications of the procedure with the surgeon.

The risks of the surgery can be minimized by going under pre-surgery consultation. Doctor should know current health status of the patient. If a person is having history of any systemic illness then he is not a good candidate for the surgery. The expectations from any type of cosmetic surgery should be realistic. The material which is injected in the lips is absorbed after some time and because of this lip enhancement is repeated after regular time intervals . Before going under the surgery you should have clear understanding of the procedure limitations.
