Many people these days are found to have excessive fat built up in their body. This can be anywhere in the body like the tummy, thighs, breasts, arms, and buttocks. It can be any part of the body. Other than dieting or exercising which help get rid of this gordura localizada, there is a medical means of removing fat. This is called liposuction or lipo in short. But lipo is not done only as a means to have a better contoured body. It is also used for medical reasons.

Lipo Realities

Lipoaspiracao is a highly popular cosmetic surgery procedure around the world. In the US alone, many thousands of lipo procedures are done every year. There are many types of liposuction procedures, but they all amount to the same thing - removal of fat from the body. The most standard form used is suction assisted liposuction. In fact, many of the methods mentioned here use some sort of suction to remove the fat after it is diluted.

* Wet Liposuction: This is a technique in which a small amount of fluid, containing certain chemicals, is injected into the area where the fat is to be removed. This liquid liquidates or loosens the fat. This makes it easy to suck the fat out with the lipo needle.

* Ultrasonic Liposuction: This method, like the name suggests, uses a special cannula that emits ultrasonic waves. These waves soften the fat cells and the cannula sucks them out.

* Hidrolipo: Dr. Jeffrey Klien created this method of lipo. Here, local anesthesia is administered on the patient and a machine called Vibrolipo is used to loosen the fat and take it out. The advantage of this method is that it causes lesser trauma on the body than other lipo methods. Patients are known to recover after 48 hours of being administered this form of liposuction. This method can be used more successfully on patients who do not have excessive fat deposits.

* Laser Assisted Liposuction: Here, a thermal and photomechanical energy is emitted on to the area where the lipo has to be done to dissolve the fat. This makes the removal of the fat faster and easier.

* Tumescent Liposuction: In this method, local anesthesia is combined with a vasoconstrictor to remove the fat. This method is slightly riskier than other methods of lipo, hence is generally used only when the fat to be removed is low in volume.

These are only a few of the methods used in performing liposuction.

Newer, faster, and more improved techniques are being developed in this field at a fast pace. This may be due to the fact that people around the world have become figure conscious and would go to any extent to look good. Hence the popularity of the method is on the rise as the years pass by.

Lipo is not without its potential risks. However, now with methods being developed that use minimum surgical procedure and more local anesthesia than general, the procedure is being safer. Faster recovery time has made it trendier than before.
