“One of the tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon - instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.” Dale Carnegie
How true is that? How many times do you catch yourself saying – “when I have done this, I will …” or maybe your words of choice are “If only I had…, then life would be…” Forget that right now and start living in the moment.
Look around you and really see!
Look at your family, your children, your partner, your friends, your work colleagues (the ones you like!)? There is no doubt that they are not perfect but they are perfectly yours today. They stop you from being completely inward and they sharpen you into the powerful person you have become.
And yes, you are powerful. Whatever your circumstances at the moment, you are in control of how you feel; you are in control of how you respond. You determine if this will be the making of you or not, but that is a thought for another day.
For today, learn to be grateful; For family, for friends, for the food you eat, for the house in which you live. Be grateful for life, for laughter, for the trees, the life that surrounds you.
Take a moment to really see what you have.
We have bought into the lie that unless we are financially rich, then we are nothing and we must always seek for more. No, I do not mean, lose all ambition. But lose the kind of ambition that does not allow you to be grateful for where you are now.
Life is a journey and there really is no final destination that we can look forward to (except the inevitable!). Wherever you get to, you will aspire for more. So take some time to really, really enjoy this journey that you are on.
Start now to appreciate all those around you, tell them that you appreciate them and take some time, if it your thing, to pray for them. This always helps your relationships as you focus in on the great parts of the people you are praying for.
Appreciate the things you have already gained, stop giving in to the thought that you have done nothing. Switch that voice off for a second and really see where you have come from. How many dark spots have you recovered from? You are a different, stronger person for it.
You do not have to be noticed by anyone to feel good about yourself. Say to yourself right now – I am going to feel really good today regardless of what happens. Say it over and over emphasizing different words and then carry on with the day with a renewed sense of vigor.
Live Life to the full today! It is irreplaceable.
