There is a lot of argument these days about Logo Design crowdsourcing that whether it’s good or bad for businesses and designers. When you read their arguments, you will notice that both sides have strong opinions and they both seem correct. Thus, it’s not easy to conclude that which side is good and which side is bad. What we need to actually look at is the fact that how it’s affecting the design industry and whether it’s good for people who go for crowdsourcing or not. We can then decide, not taking others into consideration, that we, as responsible citizens, should support it or have our views against it. So, let’s take a look at them step-by-step: Creativity: Creativity is something that is required when your brand identity is created, because your logo design must look just as your business is unique. When it comes to starting a logo design competition, those who support it say that this way you can see lots of creativity. You will be able to go through literally dozens of designs and choose the one you like the most. But, the side that is against logo competitions has a completely different view to share. They say that having several designs in front of you doesn’t mean creativity. A creative designer possesses exceptional design skills that he acquires through his experience and education. This is the reason why competitions are bad because you don’t know how much experience the designers have. Designers: There is nothing better than having several designers work on your logo to create your brand identity. The supporters of design competitions say that when you start a competition, you involve lots of designers with you. This way lots of brains work on your project and you can undoubtedly expect the best results through this practice. They say that if you hire a company and ask them to use several designers they will charge you a lot of money. But, through crowdsourcing, you can save a lot of money. But, the side that is against logo competitions has a completely different view to share. They say that it’s good to have several designers, but they all should be working with each other. In competitions, each designer works alone. The practice of having several designers becomes effective when they work together, not individually. Guarantee: What is better than having a solid guarantee that your design will be unique and in case of plagiarism, the guilty designer will be fired immediately? These competition sites claim that your design will be completely customized and will be 100% unique to ensure your satisfaction. But, the other side has a totally different viewpoint. They say that there is no guarantee that your design will be unique and what if the plagiarism is detected after a while when it’s too late? What will happen if you buy a logo, start your marketing campaigns, begin to get exposure and then all of a sudden realize that your logo is not unique? It will ruin your brand image. So, this guarantee is not authentic. Now, folks, you have their arguments and you can easily decide what to do and what to avoid.
