The Centers for Disease Control have announced that Americans are fatter now than ever before recorded in history. More than thirty percent of American adults are considered medically overweight with a body mass index between 25 and 29. Another thirty percent of American adults weight in with a body mass index between 30 and 39, classifying them as obese. Three percent are morbidly obese with a BMI over 40. Thirty-three percent of children in the United States is overweight. The totals are frightening. Converting these percentages into real numbers should set off our panic buttons. In July of 2007, the United States population was estimated at just over 301 million people. This means that around 190 million people in the U.S. are overweight with around 9 million considered to be morbidly obese. The standard American diet and exercise regimens are not going to change unless we, as American citizens begin to take matters into our own hands by changing the way we care for our bodies. It's not only about how we eat and exercise, we must start by cleansing our bodies, eliminating refined sugar products and regulating the metabolism. Nature has provided us with many different herbs that aid in a weight loss program.

One of the first steps to loosing weight begins with cleansing our essential organs of all of the toxins that have been added through our foods over the years. Detoxifying herbs can be used to cleanse organs such as the heart, liver, kidneys, gallbladder and colon. These organs are all responsible for moving toxins through and out of our systems. If these organs aren't properly cleansed, they wont be able to function correctly, creating a dangerous environment for the body by storing toxins in places that they don't belong. Storing toxins in our fat cells is actually the bodies way of attempting to protect us from further danger but this develops even more problems. A full body he beginning with weight gain, increased fat and water retention - further taxing our essential organs. An herbal detox kit. You should begin to see and feel results within about four weeks of starting an herbal detox program. As an added bonus to loosing weight, a good herbal detox program will also aid the body in curing a vast amount of other ailments and diseases.

Cookies. Pastries. Cakes. Americans crave refined sugar and just can't get enough of this dangerous substance. In 1997, Americans ingested 7.3 billion pounds of refined sugar containing candy. Sugar is physically addictive and considered a drug by many nutrition experts. The average American consumes two to three pounds of sugar each week - making way for rapid weight gain. Refined sugar causes rapid fluctuations in blood sugar levels, releasing additional insulin into the body causing sugar to be stored away to protect us from the rapid rise in blood sugar. This increase in insulin levels causes the body to change food into fat and store it as fat. High insulin levels resulting from excessive refined sugar intact also prevents the body from breaking down previously stored fat. Herbal supplements such as Gymnema Sylvestre and Stevia Leaf blocks absorbtion of sugar molecules in the intestines, which will eventually eradicate any desire for refined sugars. Permantly eliminating refined sugar products from the diet will result in rapid weight loss in many people.

The thyroid gland is responsible for regulating the body's metabolism. When the thyroid gland is not functioning properly, it may release too little or too much of the hormone that regulates the rate in which the body burns fat as energy. When too little hormone is released, the metabolism slows. This slowed metobolic rate makes it much easier to gain weight and much more difficult to loose weight. An herbal formula containing herbs such as irish moss, white oak bark, iceland moss, bladderwrack, kelp, chickweed, dulse, black walnut hulls, spirulina and chlorella is a fabulous weight loss aid, regulating the bodies metabolism by normalizing and regulating the thyroid gland. Caring for the function of your thyroid is essential in any weight loss program.

At the rate in which the percentage of overweight Americans is increasing, seventy-five percent of the adults in our country will be overweight by the year 2015, with forty-one percent being clinically obese. This equates to three out of every four people in the US being overweight. Slowly but surely our current lifestyle is sure to become the nations number one killer. We can change these statistics by starting an herbal program, ingesting the healing herbs that nature intended for us to use so that people and animals can remain healthy and free from disease.
