The Bahamas, or the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, comprises about 3000 islands, islets and cays. It is a country located in the Atlantic Ocean. It is best known for its lavish lifestyle and exquisite natural beauty. It is one of the most spectacular holiday destinations in the world.
The temperatures in this country don’t vary too much with the seasons. Winter is a popular time to visit this place for tourists who want to escape the chilly weather of their hometowns. Summers are hotter and more humid, and rain showers can be expected at this time. The high season in the Bahamas sees a lot of hustling and bustling as the country is filled to the brim with enormous crowds. This means that you need to book your accommodations and flights well in advance. However, you will get to experience most of the area’s festivals and events, so it will be worth the effort. Low season in the country will interest you if you want to avoid the crowds and stroll around the area to experience the Caribbean traditionally. Music in the Bahamas is a boon to the ears. It is mostly associated with Junkanoo, a celebration on New Year’s Day as well as Boxing Day. Junkanoo Carnival is a type of street carnival with parades in which people wear amazing costumes made of crepe paper. The most powerful rhythms are beaten on traditional goatskin, tom-tom or bongo drums. Calypso, Jamaican Reggae and Trinidadian are other Caribbean forms which are present in Bahamian music. American-inspired Rap and Hip Hop are also becoming popular. Bahamian bands such as Baha Men have gained massive popularity among the United States, Japan and many other nations.

When it comes to religion, Christianity is predominant in the country, with about 95% of the population being Christian. There are various denominations, mainly Anglican, Catholic and Baptist. The country has the largest number of churches per capita in the world. The Bahamians have high enthusiasm and regard for both religion and education.
