Love and Barbarism

Love is a deep caring for the welfare of another human being.nLove is empathy at full volume.nLove is an incredible emotion.nLove is like a gasp of air when we are drowning in a frigid sea of destructive emotions.nLove is the key to self-mastery which enables us to permanently wrest control from the barbarian mind.nLove is the means by which humanity will finally elevate itself out of the ice age of barbarism.nnLove versus Fear:nLove can make you totally fearless.nWhen you are in love you care so deeply for that other person that you would gladly sacrifice your life before allowing any harm to come to them.nMore so it turns on your natural empathy for all human beings and other living creatures.nnLove versus Anger:nWith enough love in your heart you cannot be angered by attacks from others.nYour natural empathy for other human beings will lead you to see and focus on the fear and pain behind their aggression and to have compassion for them.nnLove versus Self-Pity:nLove enables us to avoid and escape the cruel and endless destructive cycle of self-absorption and victimhood that keeps us trapped in the barbarian mind states.nAll non-physical pain is entirely self-inflicted.nLove teaches us to stop hurting ourselves.nLoving others and being loved in return enables us to love ourselves.nLove vanquishes pain!nnThere is not enough love in this world.nnThe more love that each of us has in our hearts the better able we are to control our negative emotions and the more beautiful the world becomes for us. And through our actions in reciprocity the more beautiful we make it for others. The world really is what we make of it. The more people in this world who are consumed by love the less conflict and suffering there will be.nThis is how barbarism dies.nnWhy aren’t we there already? Why is there so much pain and suffering in this world and so little love? Why are we STILL so deep in the age of barbarism?nnI believe that the ancient moral codes by which we live are the main impediment. These codes are the product of the age of barbarism and need to be re-examined. These moral codes are largely based on “fear”.nnWe live in a world of overflowing abundance but our fear blinds us to this. The scarcity mindset pre-dominates in the age of barbarism. But scarcity is an illusion. “Fear of lack” is unjustified but it drives the moral codes of the barbarians. Above all we fear that we will be without love.nnWhen we search for our one true love or soul-mate we are succumbing to the destructive illusion of scarcity. When we find love and then fear losing it we are succumbing to the destructive illusion of scarcity. When we eventually do lose it – through death or decision – and allow ourselves to be overcome with feelings of loss we are succumbing to the destructive illusion of scarcity.nnFear is the path to barbarism. To overcome fear is to choose not to walk this path. And that which we fear above all else is a lack of love. I believe that facing and overcoming this fear is not only the key to enduring personal happiness; it is the also the key to ending all variety of conflict in the world and elevating ourselves out of the age of barbarism once and for all.nn“You know it’s love when all you want is that person to be happy, even if you're not part of their happiness.”n~Julia Robertsnn“Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls”n~Khalil GibrannnThis is “love without attachment” and it is the only true form of love that exists.nnSo if the one that you love has love for another then this is a cause for joy not suffering.nAnd if they are no longer with you but they are happy then you too should feel great joy for them.nnYour focus determines your reality.nnChoose to treasure the joyous memories of the time that you were together, let go of the hurt and wish them well.nnChoose to live with love in your heart at all times and encourage others to do the same. By this means we will build a better world for ourselves and our posterity.
