When the pressure of the blood that is exerted against the walls of the blood vessels after and during every heart beat is lower than normal, you have low blood pressure. This can result in insufficient blood flow to the important body organs like the heart and the brain.

There are two main mechanisms, or causes, of low blood pressure. The most common mechanism is reduced blood volume, which can have many different causes. Hemorrhage, or massive blood loss; not drinking enough fluids such as water or juice; or persistent diarrhea or vomiting can all cause reduced blood volume. Another cause of hypovolemia is excessive diuretics use. This causes the body to produce excessive amounts of urine, which can reduce the amount of fluid in the body very quickly. Another mechanism that causes low blood pressure is decreased cardiac output.

Low blood pressure, which is also called Hypotension, will be diagnosed whenever blood pressure readings remain below 90/60 on a consistent basis. Why is this problem? We all want lower blood pressure. While that is true, having too low of a reading can cause dizziness, lightheadedness and fainting. In severe cases it can lead to low blood flow to the brain which in turn can lead to shock and heart attacks. An impending stroke could also be a cause of hypotension. That's why people with cardiac complications are said to be extremely careful of hypotension. A chronic diabetic may also suffer from blood pressure disorder. Thus low BP could be termed as by product of different maladies. However cardiac diseases remain major contributor to low BP.

There are herbs that could help treat hypotension. These include ginseng, oats, and hawthorn berries. In addition, there are traditional Chinese medicines that are useful for blood circulation improvements. These include Dang Shen, Huang Qi, Dang Gui,Huang Jing, Bai Zhu, Wu Wei Zi, mix-fried Ma Huang, Zhi Ke, Sheng Ma, and mix-fried Gan Cao. The advantage of taking these medicines is that one can get them simply at their on backyard.

Soak 5 almonds in water in a bowl for almost 12 hours. After that peel off the almonds and chew them. Do not drink milk or any other thing with them; just chew raw almonds. The best way to consume almonds is soak them every night and eat them next morning. Within 5 days, you will notice the remarkable improvement in your health. You have to continue this for minimum 45 days. As almonds are good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals, you can continue consuming them even after 45 days; there will be no side effect. But, do not consume more than 5 almonds a day.

Certain type of medications often cause hypotension, even an excessive work of a drug to treat hypertension can have the contrary adverse effect. Some drugs lower blood pressure when mixed with other substances such as alcohol and other drugs. Hypotension problems get worse as you get older and the elderly are much more likely to suffer as a result. This is probably due to the fact that people over seventy are likely to be taking medication and to the connection between low BP and problems with blood vessel function.
