Most people these days live lifestyles that place a lot of pressure on their bodies, particularly their backs. Whether you hold a blue collar job or sit at your office desk all day, you are surely putting your body at constant risk of muscle damage and injury with your repetitive daily routine. That is why lower back pain has become one of the most common reasons why people visit their doctors regularly. And in an effort to provide more lasting relief from lower back pain, doctors are now moving away from the usual prescription of pain medication. Instead, more and more doctors are prescribing lower back exercises for permanent pain relief. This is definitely good news for back pain sufferers. It has long been acknowledged that taking pain medications can be a double-edged sword. While such pills can temporarily take away the pain that you feel, it can also prevent you from making an effort to find out exactly what is the underlying cause of your back pain. More often than not, relying on pain medication without addressing the underlying cause only leads to even more damage and worse injuries. Another thing you should be wary of is that pain medication, just like most pills, can be addicting. Once you are addicted to these pills, what once helped you now actually harms you. That is why lower back exercises are now preferred over pain medication. If you’re lucky enough not to suffer from back pain yet, then here’s good news for you: Many cases of back pain can be avoided. All you need to do is take the time to learn the right way of going about your routine. For example, if your work regularly entails lifting or picking something up from the floor, you should be careful not to bend at the waist. Instead, you should bend at the knees and then use the strength of your legs to lift a heavy object up. And if the object is really very heavy, then you should either get someone to help you lift it or use tools such as dollies or lumbar belts in order to avoid hurting yourself. If your work involves sitting at a desk all day, then make sure that you get up and move around every hour or so. You don’t even have to move away from your workstation. What’s important is that you get up and stretch a bit to keep your muscles from getting stiff and to give your back a break from staying in one position for too long. There are even a number of stretching exercises you can perform right at your workstation. These exercises help you avoid back pain by strengthening your muscles and keeping them limber. As a result, your muscles are better able to support you adequately.rnLower back exercises also help you develop better posture, which helps your entire body function properly. Needless to say, strong muscles and good posture will definitely keep back pain away.
