Lung cancer is one of the deadliest diseases that is caused by the growth and spread of cancer cells all throughout the lungs. If it is not caught early, it can spread all over your body becoming more aggressive as it grows.

The lung cancer survival rates indicate the percentage of the individuals affected by the disease but survived after the treatment for the certain period of time. The rates are based on researches whose data gathered from large groups of people with lung cancer.

Treatment is the key for a patient of cancer to survive. The life expectancy for lung cancer without treatment is less than five percent. However, it still depends on what stage and type of cancer an individual has.

Lung Cancer Survival Rates for small cell lung cancer vary from different people. The result is higher for women with lung cancer than with men for each stage of lung disease. Younger people tend to survive longer than with older people suffering from the said disease. When cancer cells has reached your lungs, especially to the brain or to your liver leads to poorer survival. If you have other health conditions during the diagnosis, it may lower as well your chances for survival.

A greater chance to endure the treatments is maintaining a healthy condition. Being healthy all the time during your prognosis may lengthen your opportunity to survive. Continued smoking increases the risk of other health condition and can bring down your chances to live longer. Even with treatment, if the person continuously smoke they are adding damage to their lungs.

For non-small cell lung cancer, Lung Cancer Survival Rates is different. There is a grim of a round 5 years because most patients with this cancer type. There are four stages for non-small cell lung cancer. The earlier the cancer is detected the higher chance of survival. However, since symptoms for lung cancer is often detected late and a later stage, the chance and for better survival is quite slim.
