Holidays in Luxor allows you to spend incredible time at its variety of Temples where there is lot to explore and know. Luxor is one of the most important cities in Egypt. History breathes in every corner of the city, therefore, every year millions of people plan holidays to Luxor to experience the centuries gone by. The city is home to number of historical structures and temples. Some of the most important temples in Luxor are located at the West Bank. Temple of Hatshepsut is one of them. During ancient times, Temple of Hatshepsut was known as Djeser-djeseru which literally means Sacred of Sacreds. This temple belongs to Dynasty XVIII’s Queen Hatshepsut. The temple is strategically on the direct axis with Karnak Temple. The majestic structure is built on three terraced level. You would also come across Valley Temple connected to River Nile by a canal. While spending holidays in Luxor, visiting Temple of Hatshepsut is a must add freshness of River Nile to your historical trip. On the second terrace of the temple, you would come across several reliefs. At some of the places figure of Hatshepsut is replaced the figure of Tuthmose III, successor of the queen. While walking on the ramp that leads to the third terrace, you would find Polish-Egyptian mission, Horus Falcons. At the third terrace, beautiful pillars are decorated with the Osirid statues of the queen. Sanctuary of Amun is located on the third terrace in the Upper Court. There are two chambers in the sanctuary that depict the scenes of Hatshepsut along with Tuthmose III and Neferure. Third chamber was added to the sanctuary by Ptolemy VIII. Later on the third terrace was transformed into a Sanatorium. Numerous people have started booking Luxor holiday packages just because of the Valley Festival. Temple of Merenptah is another temple that compels history lovers to plan Luxor holidays. This mortuary temple is home to number of statues. During excavations, number of reliefs of Amenhotep III were also found in the temple. The façade of the temple is partially formed by the western patio. The temple also has hypostyle halls. First hall has twelve columns and second has eight. While visiting the temple, you would also come across a chapel of Osiris and a sun court. The chapel and sun court gives you an impression of Temple of Seti. Baroque shrines for the Theban Triad of Mut, Amun and Khons can also be found in the temple. Today, the temple serves as a museum because of its well preserved blocks and colorful reliefs of Amenhotep III. Other highlights are spectacular stone works.
