Internationally known as the business center, Madrid is the capital of Spain and is home to the government offices and Parliament. Plenty of industries of various sectors such as metal, food, and textile are located in the city and Madrid also well known for its cultural activities and night life.

Access to Madrid

The visitors to Madrid can reach the city by train from various citires such as Barcelona, Seville, and Soria and from countries like France. Daily flights from leading cities of the European continent also connect Madrid to the rest of the world. The main airport of Madrid Barajas is about 13 kilometers from the city and bus services are available for the travelers to reach the city. There are many roads that connect Madrid from Spain, Portugal and France.

Visa to Madrid

Most of the countries have their embassies in Madrid. No passport is needed to enter Spain if you are from countries like Austria, Malta, Hungary, or Norway. If you are from a country that is not a member of the Schengen agreement, you need to have a valid passport to travel to Spain. You do not need a visa when you are from any of the aforesaid countries. But if your stay extends for more than 3 months, you need to apply for a residence card. Getting a student visa is not difficult if you have all the relevant papers from the university.

Transportation in Madrid

When you visit Madrid, you will be pleased to find thousands of taxis that ply within the city and take you wherever you want to go. You need not tip the drivers but the fare has to be rounded up. Additional baggage and trip to outside the city limits may be charged more. Just a phone call will fetch you a taxi at any time of the day or night. The metro services in Madrid are probably the most efficient and quickest to see around Madrid. You will be guided properly with clear cut instructions wherever you go. The local trains and bus services in Madrid are very efficient, connecting to different places in Madrid.

Accommodation and food

You will find many starred hotels in Madrid with all the basic amenities apart from luxury to those who prefer it. Advance booking is preferred to ensure the availability of rooms at the time of your visit. In Madrid you may not get the native Spanish cuisine but they do have specialties of their own. You will find hundreds of restaurants that offer various types of international and national food.

You need to travel to Madrid at least once to know about the night life, cultural activities, tradition, and the different types of food. Since Madrid is well connected to various locations across the world, travelling should never pose a problem for anyone.
