Main and primary sharpening techniques

A skinning knife is a utility tool and kukri knife serve both of the purposes to be called as utility tool and a weapon tool. From simple to complex knife, all follow same sharpening techniques. If you have handmade skinning knives or someone has the collection of folding kukri knife, both these knives passes through same sharpening technique procedure. Hunters always and should carry sharp knives
because they are safer and more efficient of all. We know about different sharpeners, some of them are whetstones and sharpening rods.

You can use pull-through kind of sharpeners or these electric sharpeners.

Here main and primary sharpening techniques will be shared. First one is sharpening, second stage is of straightening and last stage is of polishing.

Technique number 1: Sharpening

To sharpen your handmade skinning knives, first you have to remove their chunks and unwanted kind of material from their blades. You have to set your knife blade right an angle between the range of 20 degrees to 30 degrees.

Technique number 2: Straightening

This technique is carried out at a smaller angle. Set and fix your blade at an angle that ranges between about 15 degrees to 20 degrees.

This technique makes the edges of your knife blade straight. It removes excess amount of metal from it.

Technique number 3: Polishing

The last technique to sharp your folding kukri knife is polishing. It is a finishing and final technique. This useful technique can give your knife blade a smooth edge.
So set your blades at a correct angle and increase the sharpness of your knives blades in a maximum way. Be careful while sharpening these blades and do not hurt and injure yourself. Stay safe and use sharpening tools in a careful way without injuring yourself. It depends on your knife type that which technique you want to try first.
